Part 1- The start

( Ashley's pov)

AUGUST 1ST 1995 - TUESDAY

It was Tuesday, i walked to school as usual. My sister Sidney took a bus.

But this time, i saw multiple news vans and police cars. A lot of students were out in the yard and i saw Gale Weathers.

" The small town of Woodsboro was devastated last night when two young teenagers were found brutally butchered. Authorities have yet to issue a statement but our sources tell us that no arrest has been made and the murderer could strike again..."

I heard Gale Weathers talk into the microphone as i stepped closer to the entrance of the school..

From behind, a finger taps my shoulder and i turn around to see Tatum, my best friend.

" Do you believe this shit?" She spoke, i looked around and then back at her.

" What happend?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.

" Oh God! You don't know? Casey Becker and Steve Orth were killed last night." She responded and my eyes widened.

" No way."

" And not just killed Ash. We're talking splatter movie killed split-open end to end." Tatum explained, i got disgusted by the thought.

" Casey Becker? She sits next to me in English." I say, remembering asking her for a pencil yesterday.

" Not anymore. Her parents found her hanging from a tree. Her insides on the outside."

" Do they know who did it?" I wondered.

" Fucking clueless they're interrogating the entire school. Teachers,students,staff,janitors." Tatum said.

" They think its school related?" I looked at her.

" They don't know, Dewey said this is the worst crime they've ever seen. Even worse than.." Tatum stops herself as she sees Sidney passing by with a pale tired face.

Sidney, My half sister was not the same person ever since Maureen's death. I never liked Maureen, she wasn't a very nice person but her death was tragic. Sidney barely talked to anyone expect our dad,me and Tatum. Sidney was the one to find her mother's unrecognizable slaughtered body. Dad was driving me back from volleyball and when we arrived we saw Sidney passed out and Maureen's body. It was all a blur from there but I remember us thinking Sidney was dead as well.

" Well its bad. They're bringing in the feds. This is big." She continued and i nodded.

[ IN THE CLASSROOM ]

First period, MRS. Tate was facing us. A tragic look upon her face.

" A terrible tragedy, an unbearable loss. It's days like today we need prayers in school." She spoke, her hands clasped together.

The door opens and a student opens with a slip of paper. He hands it to Mrs. Tate.

" Ashley, it appears to be your turn." She says and i nod, the whole class looking at me.

Sidney was sitting next to me, she was already questioned. She squeezed my hand with a small smile before i got up and left.

She heard about the accident this morning, im surprised she didn't tell me.

Sheriff Burke gestures to bring me in, i walk in and sit down.

" Sherrif Burke, Dewey." I nod as in greeting.

" Its Deputy Riley today Ashley." Tatum's older brother, Dewey speaks up and i nod.

" How is everything?" Sheriff Burke asks me.
