Bakugou was having a nightmare. At this point, he knew it was true but it didn't change how scared he was. He was used to having different variations of the same nightmare, over and over. He was captured by the League of Villains, and his friends had come to rescue him. He could see Kirishima with his hand outstretched, but when the time came, he was just out of reach.

He screamed, falling through the sky, and he snapped awake just before he hit the ground.

Bakugou was sweating through his clothes, shivering and out of breath. He got up to pace around his room. Usually, what would make him feel better would be seeing Kirishima; seeing the real him, smiling in front of him would be enough to calm him down. But it was only 2 am, and he had the rest of the night to deal with his anxiety until he could see Kirishima again. He didn't want to wake him up and burden him with his problems.

So Bakugou continued to pace around his room, alone with his destructive thoughts. His problems all originated with his own faults, though, so how could he blame anyone but himself? He couldn't blame Deku anymore; he wasn't a child, and it wasn't fair. And he would've never been kidnapped in the first place if it wasn't for his own stupid, reckless behavior-

His thoughts were cut off by someone knocking on his door. He opened it up to see Kirishima, standing there in his sweatpants and a hoodie, with his arms crossed over his chest and a worried expression on his face.

Bakugou's heartbeat slowed a little, as Kirishima's presence reminded him of the reality that he had, in fact, been saved that night.

Kirishima stepped in closer. "Bakugou, did you hear me? I asked if you were okay."

"Uh," Bakugou said, "I..." He fumbled for a response. He was exhausted and emotionally overwhelmed, so it was getting harder to lie about his feelings. One thing he knew for sure was that he did not want to have a breakdown right in front of Kirishima, so he turned around and didn't speak.

_

Oh, no. This was worse than Kirishima thought. Bakugou had turned his back on him, but his shoulders were starting to shake a little. Kirishima quietly shut the door behind him and approached Bakugou slowly, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay," Kirishima said. Bakugou didn't push him away, but he didn't make a move either.

Kirishima knew Bakugou didn't want to be seen as weak; not that Kirishima would ever think that of him. But Katsuki's ego was still fragile. If he could find a way to comfort him without him having to look Kirishima in the eye, it might work.

Quickly, he turned Bakugou around and hugged him tightly, holding Bakugou's head into his shoulder with one hand and wrapping his other arm around his back. Bakugou was still for a moment before he gave in and let Kirishima comfort him. He relaxed in his arms and started to cry. They stayed that way for a long time before Bakugou pulled away and apologized.

"Hey," Kirishima said, "I wanted to be here. You know I'll be your horse that never waivers, right?"

Bakugou wiped his eyes and almost—almost—gave Kirishima a smile. "You can stop saying that corny ass line. How did you even know I was awake in the first place?"

"Uh... I think you might have kicked a few things around your room."

That was a big understatement. Random pieces of Bakugou's costume were thrown across the floor, along with his backpack and all its contents.

"Fuck, I didn't notice," Bakugou said, looking embarassed.

"What happened? Another nightmare?" Kirishima asked.

"Yeah." Bakugou sat down on his bed, pulling his legs close to his chest. "And it got me thinking... everyone treats me like a villain. The way I acted after the sports festival, that's the reason everything went to shit."

Kirishima sat down beside him. "That's not true," he said. "First of all, it's not your fault that any of that happened. And second of all, we know you only acted that way because you wanted your 'undisputable first place.' But you gotta realize that Todoroki wasn't trying to diss you, man. He has his own stuff to work through."

"I know you're right," Bakugou sighed, "but don't get used to me saying that, Shitty Hair. Got it!?"

"Uh-huh," Kirishima smiled. "You're not a villain, Bakugou. You're incredible. You're the best of us."

Bakugou leaned over and put his head on Kirishima's shoulder in a rare gesture of affection. "That better not be you trying to sell yourself short. I'll kill you."

Kirishima smiled and turned his head to see Bakugou leaning against him with his eyes closed. "Right," Kirishima said.

Kirishima figured it was about time Bakugou got some sleep, so he slowly started to get up, but Bakugou grabbed his wrist.

"Stay," he said. "Please?"

"Of course," Kirishima said.
