Bakugou wasn't quite sure how he'd gotten into this situation.
He was standing in the throne room of an abandoned palace with the person he hated most, the most uptight person from their academy, some random guy with shitty hair living out in the desert and the pilot he'd long admired before he went missing.
And now some long dead alien girl and her half and half hair and eye colored assistant were preaching about some robot lions like the blue one they'd just flown here in.
"Wait. So there's five lions, and we're meant to pilot them?" Deku frowned. The princess, Yaomomo something or other, nodded at this.
"Correct. The blue lion has already chosen Iida." She gestured towards the boy who looked proud. "Four remain. The Red Lion, the Green Lion, the Yellow Lion and the Black Lion."
"Kirishima, you are meant to pilot the Red Lion who is fearless and stands her ground. Bakugou, you are meant to pilot the Yellow Lion who is powerful and protective. Midoriya, you are meant to pilot the Green Lion who is inquisitive and peaceful. And as for you Toshinori, the Black Lion, who leads the rest and is a symbol of hope."
"Did you just assign us lions based on hair color?" Bakugou demanded.
"The lions take many factors into choosing their paladins." Yaomomo merely stated before turning her gaze to Deku. "Midoriya, the Green Lion can be found in the jungle. Toshinori will go with you. The Black Lion is sealed down below the castle, and it can only be accessed once the other four have been returned."
"Ok." Deku nodded. His eyes brimmed with excitement. Toshinori patted the boy's shoulder, and Bakugou gritted his teeth, feeling his chest coil.
"Before you leave, here are your bayards." She handed a strange looking object colored green and white to Deku. "I'm afraid we have lost the Black Lion's bayard." She sighed, placing her hand on her chest.
"That's alright. I'll manage." Toshinori reassured her, gripping his robotic arm.
"Just be careful." She nodded, then turned to her advisor. "Todoroki can lead you to one of the pods." Half and Half nodded, and the two pilots followed him. Bakugou watched them leave, and then Yaomomo turned to the three of them handing them each a bayard as well which corresponded to their lion's color. "Iida, take Bakugou and Kirishima in your Lion. I've located the Yellow Lion on a barren planet with Galra forces stationed. The Red Lion is there too, but that Lion is in their possession. Be careful."
"Got it." Kirishima grinned. Iida bowed, and Bakugou sighed. It looked like he was stuck with these two like it or not.
The three squeezed into the Blue Lion together much less crowded now with the reduction of two people. Iida steered the Lion out of the palace and it took off into space, headed towards the coordinates Yaomomo gave them.
Iida drove them through the wormhole Yaomomo opened up, and they shot through it towards the galaxy where this particular planet was located. Once they'd passed through, the wormhole still open in order to guarantee their return back, Kirishima pressed up against the front of the Lion to see outside. Bakugou watched the redhead. He looked so excited staring out at the stars and planets which were bright against the inky dark backdrop around them. Bakugou leaned against the wall of the lion and crossed his arms.
So they just had to find two giant robot cats and manage not to get caught by evil aliens who would kill them. Simple enough.
The blue lion jolted suddenly causing Kirishima to topple over, and Iida to fall forward, glasses nearly flying off his face. Bakugou grit his teeth and held his ground as the lion began to descend towards the sandy colored planet below.
