Warnings:

Richie's POV:

I collapse onto the floor of my room, letting the carpet soak up the rain.

I have to change and take shower, but I have no motivation to do anything.

'Why did he do that?'
'What did I do wrong?'

I told myself nothing would go wrong.
I mean, I knew it would go wrong, but I told myself it would be fine.

I was an idiot.

*Knock Knock*

"Richie, hon, you there?" I hear my mom say behind the door, "I heard you come in but I didn't see you."
I take a breath in, trying not to sound like I had been crying.

"Ya i'm here." I say, stifling a sob.

"Hon, are you okay, it sounds like you're crying." She says from behind the closed door.

"I'm fine." I say, letting a few tears fall.

"Alright, well, your friend Beverly just called, she said she would be here in a few minutes." She says.

"Okay." I say as I hear my mom start to walk away.

I guess I have to get ready.

I still don't move.

I have to get ready, but I can't bring myself to do anything.

I continue to not do anything, not even when I hear the doorbell and when Bev's voice echoes through the halls.

*Knock Knock*

"Rich, you there? It's Bev." I hear her say from the other end of the door.

"Ya, I'm here" I say as I hold back tears.

"Can I come in?" She asks
I hum in response.

"Can you move away from the door so I can come in?" She asks.

"Oh ya, hold on." I mumble as I stand up and walk over to my bed.

"Hey Rich how- hey, why is the floor wet?" She exclaims as she looks down at the carpet, "Now my socks are soaked."

"Oh sorry" I say.

"Wait." she says as she looks up at me.

"Ya?" I question, not looking up at her.

"Did you just apologize to me? You never apologize for small things like this, you always joke about it." She says as she walked over to me, "And I'm not Eddie, so why would you apologize to me?"
I shudder at the sound of Eddie's name.

"I just thought I should apologize" I say, now turning my head to look out the window.

"Okay, something is wrong." She says as she sits next to me on my bed.

"And what's that?" I ask, not looking back at her.

"Okay, first you are completely soaked, second you haven't looked at me once, and third you actually apologized, something you don't unless it's something that you have to apologize for. You've only ever apologized to me about something small once before, and it was when something was wrong, so what happened."

"Nothing happened." I say as I choke back tears,

"You're lying" Bev says, she has always been able to tell when one of us is lying so it's hard to lie to her about much,

"No I'm not." I say, my voice now down to a whisper.

"Then look at me." She says, her voice full of worry.

I shake my head.

"Rich, honey, please look at me." She says again, placing her hand on my back.

"No" I whimper, letting a few tears fall.
She puts a hand on my face before turning it to look at her.

"Oh..." She says as she looks at me, "Richie, babe, come here"
She pulls me into a hug.

"Honey, what's wrong?" She asks as she continues to hug me.

"I don't want to talk about it" I mumble into her shoulder,

"Do you want me to call Eddie?" She asks.

"No." I whisper, "I don't want to talk to Asshole"

I hear her sigh.

"Rich, what happened."

I shake my head again.

"Did Eddie do something?" She asks

I hum a yes.

She stops hugging me and starts looking at all my wounds.

"What happened, you covered in bruises."

"Eddie" I say quietly.

She sighs again before taking my hands.

"Richie, why did this happen?"

"I don't wanna talk about it."

She looks down at my hands.

"Richie... your hands."

I look down at my blood covered hands.

"Come on." She says as she stands up, pulling me towards the bathroom.

She sits me down on the edge of the bathtub before fishing the medical supplies out of the cabinet.

"Can you tell me a little about what happened?" She says as she sits down next to me and begins to prep the supplies.

"I really don't want to talk about it." I mumble.

"That's okay, just tell me when you're ready, okay hon?"

I nod.

"I'm going to get you some dry clothes and fix your glasses while you shower, okay?"

"okay." Bev smiles before taking my glasses off and leaving the room.
