Izzy's P.O.V
We took Emmett's truck to visit Charlie at the station. It had enough room just in case he rode with us to lunch. As we pull up to the station, we spot Carlisle walking out.
"Carlisle, what's going on?" Jasper asks as we all step out of the vehicle and approach Carlisle.
"Waylon Forge was found out in a boat out near his place. I just examined the body."
"He died? How?" I ask, knowing Waylon was a good friend of my dad's and many people in town.
"Animal attacks," Carlisle responds. We give him a knowing look, but he adverts his eyes.
"Huh, so this is connected to the attack on the security guard down in Mason? We heard about it on the news."
"I believe so," he nods.
"It's getting closer to town then." I look at my boys, concerned for the well-being of my hometown and people. "We should go inside and see how my father is doing."
They agree by heading to the station, holding the doors open for me. I look back at Carlisle and say my goodbyes. "I'll see you later."
I greet the people in the front as they appoint me to Charlie's office. I could see from outside his door how troubled he was about all this. He had files and files piled up on his desk. He was staring at it blankly.
"Hi, Dad."
"Isabella," I almost cringe at the sound of my full name, but I know the stress probably kept him formal.
"I'm sorry about Waylon, Dad. I know he was a friend."
"We give our condolences as well, Charlie" Emmett backs me up with his response.
"Thank you, guys. Yeah, it's been a rough day. Parents come up here wondering if their children are safe with all these killings, then we get a call about Waylon out by the docks." He looks to be holding back tears as he sighs heavily and rubs his face a couple of times.
I walk around his desk and bend down to hug him. I hug him for a minute before releasing him and returning to stand between my boys.
"I know this may not be a good time, Charlie. We were going to take you out to lunch and ask you a bit about these killings; see what you all know" Jasper gets straight to the point, seeing no other way to bring this up.
"I'm swamped at the moment, son, but these killings just look like mere animal attacks. Crazy how many people they're getting, and they're getting closer and closer to in-town."
I sigh and walk towards the door. I look and see if anyone is around before closing it.
"We don't think they're animal attacks, Dad," I say once I'm sure we have complete privacy.
He looks between the three of us, "what're you saying? What do you think it is?" He continued looking perplexed until it dawned on him. "You think vampires are doing this?"
"It possible nomads could be passing by, constantly looking for snacks," Jasper explains.
"So... if it is, what do we do?"
"We'll have to stop them ourselves, and we wouldn't want the Volturi getting involved and seeing Izzy. She's too powerful, and they'd want to take her." He continues his explanation, "We could talk to the tribe. I'm sure you know of their history."
Charlie nods, "Yes, they're descendants of the children of the moon; they're shifters."
Jasper agrees, "Yes, I'm aware. They aren't just wolves. If we can't stop the nomads ourselves, we may need their help in catching them. Hopefully, it won't come to that, but we were going to introduce Izzy as a family member of the Whitlock to them, so we might as well discuss an alliance if it comes to it."
