7th-grade history.

Matt would have easily forgotten this class if it weren't for her.

She was introduced to the class midway into the fall semester.
"If you haven't noticed we have a new student in our classroom. Ms. Richards," The teacher said as Matt looked up from his phone.

She smiled awkwardly at everyone as she made eye contact with Matt. She looked away before he could smile back, but he will never forget that smile.

When he was walking with his brothers and friends he would look out for her in the halls.

She always had her head down, listening to music.
Matt was always so intrigued by her presence.

Her dark brown hair always being tied up in the back with some type of bow or headband.

She would already be in her seat when he would walk into class.
A book in her hand, reading away.

He admired how immersed she seemed in her books, he would watch her all class; the way she intently took notes.

Her highlighters would be organized by color.

Whatever color highlighter she would use was the color of the pencil she would use.

He noticed a lot of things about her.

He saw that all her books had sticky notes- sticking out. Each color meaning a different meaning.

Whenever the teacher gave them breaks, instead of going on her phone, she would pull a book out of her neatly organized backpack.

A new book each week, sometimes every few days.

He noticed things, that he seemed to love.

"We should go outside today," Chris said walking into their shared room.

"What... why?" Matt said a little startled, Chris had just interrupted Matt's train of thought.

"It's nice out," He said sitting down next to Matt.

"Chris. It's literally January. In Boston," Matt said with a serious tone.
"Just please come with me," Chris said as Matt squinted his eyes.

"Why? What do you actually want?" Matt said as he crossed his arms across his chest.

"You know they park that's like a mile from here-"

"Lincoln Park?" Matt asked as Chris quickly nodded his head.

"Yes! Well, Sofia is there with a friend, and I wanna go say hi, but I am scared to be alone!" Chris practically begged as Matt rolled his eyes standing up.

"Fine let me put on a jacket," Matt said as Chris stood up cheering.

"Go ask Nic, if he wants to go with us," Matt said as Chris nodded walking out.

Matt quickly looked around as he tried to find a jacket that would actually cover him from the cold. He threw the outfit on and sprayed a little bit of perfume.

"He said no," Chris said as Matt turned around to look at his brother.

"Bold," Chris looked at his outfit and laughed.

He was wearing all black, but a white beanie.
He thought he looked pretty okay.

"What do you mean?" Matt said as both the teens exited the room and headed downstairs.
