Now that Trunks has explained everything, let me explain lol.
I wanted the original timeline to stay more or less the same, so I had Kon die on Namek after defeating Freiza, and I know he could've just been brought back with the Dragon Balls but I wanted to keep it that way so Trunks could exist the exact same, being Vegeta's son.
I'm going to play with the fact that Trunks going back in time created a lot of changes, and have the present timeline still have Kid Trunks, but have him be Kon's son (obviously) which means some small changes.
Kid Trunks is going to be a lot stronger than he is in canon, seeing that Kon is the strongest out of everyone. He's going to have a better relationship with his father (Kon) since Kon is more present and outright caring, and he's now related to Goten and the rest of Goku's family.
Kon and Bulma have Trunks a year before the androids show up and all of the Z Fighters are training as hard as they can.
Oh, and one last thing. If you really want to, since Trunks is Kon's son, you can imagine him with black hair which I think is an interesting change. Here's an example:
