As Vegeta and Trunks were stuck together for a year, they struggled to ascend past Super Saiyan. But eventually were able to achieve Ascended Super Saiyan, which is just a bulkier version of a regular Super Saiyan.
Piccolo and Android 17 began to fight but were interrupted by Cell who managed to absorb Android 17, creating Semi-Perfect Cell who was way stronger than Imperfect Cell.
After a day had passed, Vegeta and Trunks came out of the Time Chamber and were marginally stronger, so now it's time for Kon, Goku and Gohan to enter.
The Z-Fighters realized they have to hide Android 18 from Cell to keep him from becoming Perfect Cell.
