Serenade [Daerin]

Longing

Sunday morning, 8:59 am - Danielle's dormitory.

Haerin opened the bedroom door, Danielle stood at the doorway, she withdrew her hand that was used to knock on the door, "Are you ready?" she asked, Haerin nodded, "Do you want to have breakfast first? I ordered French Toast for us earlier." Haerin nodded again.

Danielle then headed for the dining table, Haerin followed her, "There's a new American restaurant that opened near the university, and they serve breakfast." Danielle pulled a package from the center of the table and gave it to Haerin, the girl peeked at it, smelling cinnamon and butter.

Haerin looked at Danielle, " Have you eaten yet?", Danielle nodded. Haerin sat down and took out the contents of the package, Danielle sat opposite her, she looked seriously at her tablet, her small stick was on the table, on her left.

The package contained 4 sheets of toasted brioche that looked fluffy, there were two separate small packages, one containing butter and honey, each in a small plastic box. Another one contained some kind of mixed berries, Haerin recognized them as blueberries and raspberries, and it was fresh fruit, it must be very expensive.

It looked so delicious, Haerin's stomach rumbled, Danielle who heard it smiled slightly, "Do you want to add omelette?" she asked, she was still focused on her tablet, "This is enough, thank you Danielle." Haerin said.

Haerin eat her french toast peacefully, the dorm room was quiet, no one was talking, only the sound of vibration from Danielle's cell that lying near her stick was occasionally heard.

Haerin finished her meal, she then threw the package into the trash and washed her hands. Danielle got up from the chair and walked over to the tiny hook next to the front door and picked up her car keys.

"Are we going by car?" Haerin asked as she picked up her water bottle from the table and followed Danielle, "No, we're walking." Danielle replied as she rolled her eyes, she opened the door and gave the room key to Haerin to lock it.

The Supermarket, 09:45 am.
Haerin took the trolley and immediately followed Danielle who walked into the vegetable aisle. The supermarket was very big and spacious, they had 12 aisles, ranging from snacks to baby needs. The meat section was separate, located near the vegetable aisle, there was a special section of imported food and goods in the center of the supermarket, near the cashier.

Haerin had never been in such a big supermarket, her eyes roaming in awe. Danielle took 2 large bunches of chicory and put them into the trolley, "What kind of food can you cook?" she asked, Haerin looked at her, "Just basic Korean food.", "You can find other kinds of food and try to make it, I'll eat it."

Danielle picked through the scallions, took 2 bunches and put them in the basket.
"What kind of food?" Haerin asked, "Anything, Chinese, Western, Korean fusion, Japanese. It will depend on what I would like, I'll let you know the day before so you have time to find the perfect recipe." Haerin raised her eyebrows, what a request.

They went to the meat section, "Can you prepare Hanwoo's meat?", "Huh?", "Find out how to cook it." Danielle said as she put 2 sets of Hanwoo's meat on the trolley, Haerin's eyes almost popped out seeing the price tag, 1 set was 190.000 won, Danielle continued to the pork meat section.

"Is there anything you need?" Danielle turned to look at her, "Huh?", Danielle rolled her eyes, she felt like she was talking to a fool, "What do you need? Or is there something you want? Toiletries? Food supplies that you need? Imported snacks?" Danielle replied while crossing her arms on her chest.

Haerin shook her head, she had what she needed, at least for now. Danielle stared at her for a moment, she then continued to pick out the part of meat she wanted.
