Authors note: finally! Gonna continue this! I've decided to proceed with this story! All other stories are on halt. So yeah! Enjoy!

Rody sighed as they drove on, now approaching an older city, it wasn't much of one anymore though. It was abandoned. Deku perked, looking up at the ruins. "This is odd... but it gives us plenty of areas to hide..." rody looks out the window, noting some smoke nearby. "I wouldn't get your hopes up Deku... there is someone still here." Deku looked at the smike, noting it from a small bonfire from inside an old shack. Rody stopped the van and got out, walking up to the place. "Looks like an old store.. by looks of it... a pet store." Dekus expression saddened. "A pet store? Burnt to the ground? That's disappointing." "Relax. I'm sure there aren't any pets here. They probably sold them all anyway." Deku looked around, grabbing rodys hand as they walked towards the smoke. "You good hero?" The brunette said, looking at the other. "Uneasy... very uneasy... this isn't normal ..." Rody looked up, and noted the sign. "I remember this place... I came here with my father once..." the greenette let go of rody, walking forward a few steps, stopping at sight of a person in front of a fire. Rody walked up behind him, tilting his head. "Hello! Hey, ugh we're kinda lost. Think ya could tell us where we can find the main road?" He said. The figure stood, and looked their direction. His eyes were icy, as if he'd witnessed a crime. "Yes... but please... spare some food... I haven't eaten in days..." Deku ran back to the van, grabbing some bread, bringing it to the figure. The man took it and ate. "Thank you... the main road you say? That's a mile out. South from here... you'll have to cross the valley... and by looks of it, your vehicle won't make those roads." Rody looked at him, confused. "Why wouldn't it make it?" He crossed his arms. "Those roads are very dangerous... full of things I dare not speak of... creatures the government developed.. we don't speak their names... some say they are simply lost travelers.. I believe otherwise." Deku listened, and nods. "Would you go with us to these roads, sir?" The man gave him n icy glare once again. "I'm safer here young man.. I will never leave this city.. even if it fits away. I swear I'll rot with it." Rody seemed to notice the man's jacket ruffling, as a small cat crawled out, mewling. "No not now tya.." he leaned and pet the feline. "It's best we stay here.. tya and I... if by luck you make it past those roads, so stop by again and tell me the tale. I'd be interested... company isn't much anymore." Deku nods and stands. "Thank you sir. We wish you a good day... and be safe." The man smiled, his wrinkled face exaggerating his age. The two boys turned to go back to the van. "We should hurry then Rody... I heard sirens..." Rody nods, and gets in, starting the van and driving away. "May those two young souls not discover the secrets they placed in that valley... keep them safe nature spirits..." the man said, walking into his makeshift hut.

Context:

I'm developing this story into something much more. From a police chase to tornados, and now mysterious creatures, what else will Rody and deku discover? To be clear, the old man they met is a ghost of this city. He sadly passed away there and stays on earth to protect the crumbling city's ruins.
