Sarah and I split up while Pope, Kie, and Kal formed a group. They probably had a better chance at finding JJ, seeing that they all shared the same trait: determination.

"Do you have a problem with Kal?" Sarah suddenly asked.

"What? Of course not."

Okay maybe that was a half lie—I mean don't get me wrong, she's nice and all—But every time I look at her I just think about what her brother did to JJ. It isn't fair to her, I know she's nothing like him.

Plus Rafe also messed JJ up, so you'd think this rule applied to Sarah, but it didn't. Maybe it's because I know her so well. It applied to her before I really got to know her—I think I just hold grudges too strong.

"You're lying!" she called me out.

"Okay well I can't help but link her to Kyle every time I see her." I confessed.

I quickly moved out of the way as a drunk couple almost bumped into my shoulder. "She can't choose her family, you of all people should know that." she said.

She grabbed my hand, and we stopped walking. "I mean look at me. You don't judge me by my family's actions."

"But I used to, remember?" I sighed, "Look, I love you Sarah, but this is different. We don't really know how Kal is."

She laughed in disbelief, "Well I do, she's like us."

"Do you really though? I mean what if this is all an act, what if she's like her brother? She probably tells Kyle everything we say, who knows."

"You're being ridiculous." Sarah continued to walk.

I walked with her, "I'm not, it's not so shocking to think that she's just another stuck up rich kid. I like our circle how it is."

"Don't worry, I'll stay out of your way." I heard Kal say.

Sarah and I turned around, and I immediately felt guilt hit my stomach at the sight of Kal with Pope and Kie by her sides. They probably wanted to tell us something last minute before we split up. Kal's face was red as she quickly turned around and walked away. I could tell I'd just humiliated her and it made me feel awful.

Sarah gave me a look before going after her, "Kal, wait!"

"Seriously man?" Pope said as Kie and Sarah left.

"I didn't mean to be harsh, but it's what we're all thinking!"

"You're wrong but we'll deal with this later," he put his hands on my shoulders and forced me to walk again, "let's find JJ."

I tried to push off my guilt as we went past the crowd again. With no luck, we went below deck, smoke filling the air. There was a group of people, and in the center of it was JJ.

He was talking with everyone until he saw us, slipping something into his pocket as he nodded at us with a smile. Probably weed.
