The Daughter He Thought He Lost

Yibo fed Xian while Zhan waited outside out of respect for Yibo. He didn't know what Yibo was doing inside, and he certainly didn't know that Yibo was breastfeeding her.

After about five minutes, Yibo finished feeding her.

He came downstairs with Xian, where Taehyun and Ye-ji were waiting.

Somehow, Xian woke up and gave a little cute yawn.

"Mamaaaa, where are we?" Xian asked innocently.

"Beauty, remember what I had told you..." Yibo said, crying and broken, while trying to hide his tears.

Xian immediately noticed.

"Xian don't want mama to be sad. Did dada or brother hurt you? Don't worry, Ma, I'm here with you," she said, hugging Yibo tightly with her tiny arms.

"No, Xian. Dada and brother didn't hurt Mama," Yibo said, picking her up and kissing her forehead.

He took a deep breath.

"Xian, dear... this is your brother, and that is your dada."

Yibo had finally said it.

He had finally told her the truth.

"Dada, I hate you for making Mama cry every day," Xian said, lightly slapping her dada.

She was so tiny that the little slap barely had any strength behind it.

Zhan immediately picked her up.

"Beauty... does that mean..." Zhan said, his voice breaking as tears filled his eyes.

"Dada, Mama calls me Beauty, and you too, Mama Beauty," Xian said while clapping her little hands together.

Zhan was completely shocked.

He started crying while hugging his son, finally understanding that Yibo had kept their child alive.

"Dad... my sister? The one I thought was dead..." Taehyun said, trying to control his tears.

"Taehyun, today is her birthday. Wish her," Yibo said through his tears as he knelt down on the cold ground.

"Mama, don't cry. Otherwise, I won't talk to you," Xian said, not wanting her mother to cry.

Zhan stared at Yibo.

"This is our daughter... the daughter you thought was dead two years ago," Yibo said, his voice trembling. "I faked the abortion because I thought you would take this child away from me, just like you took my son away, Zhan. I never, ever thought about killing my own child, especially when she was yours. I loved you, Zhan."

Yibo tried desperately to stop himself from crying.

"Taehyun, can you take your sister to the other room?" Yibo asked.

Taehyun still gave Yibo a cold look before taking Xian with him.

Ye-ji also quietly followed them, giving Yibo and Zhan some privacy.

"I loved you, Zhan, but I was too afraid that you would leave me after I gave birth to our child. I couldn't bear to lose my child too."

Yibo wiped his tears.

"And yes, I went to the hospital. I signed the paper saying that I would abort the child. But believe me, Zhan, the doctor asked me three times if I really wanted to abort the child, and I said yes every time."

His voice became quieter.

"But when I was in that room... I realised I didn't want to do it."

"The doctor explained to me what happens to people after making that decision. He told me about people who regretted it afterwards and people who desperately wished they could have had children. I realised I couldn't do it."
