Then he showed them a video call of her parents, who were being held at gunpoint. They were scared to death and crying.

Shan saw her parents kneeling on the ground, and she wished nothing had ever happened. She wished they had never killed anyone.

She knew her family might die along with her.

For a moment, she wished they were all back at home, laughing, smiling, and enjoying their lives before they became obsessed with being rich and did all those horrible things.

"Zhan, leave them! Just end everything with me. I was the one... just kill me! Leave my husband, my son, and my mom and dad!" Shan cried, pouring her heart out.

She couldn't bear seeing her family on their knees on the cold floor while guns were pointed at them.

It made her feel so weak that she wished she could die before seeing her parents being killed in front of her eyes.

Now she could finally understand the pain Zhan had felt when his whole family had been taken away from him.

"Shan, do u think I'm crazy enough to listen to u, huh?"

Zhan's eyes filled with anger.

"Your whole MOTHER FUCKING FAMILY killed my family in front of my fucking eyes!"

"Here. Sign these papers," Zhan said.

He ordered his guards to release only Shan's hands while remaining behind her so she wouldn't do anything stupid.

"These papers are about the company and everything your family took from us," Zhan said, handing her the papers.

"Yes, it is. Now sign them. Otherwise, your son—"

"Wait! Wait! I'll sign. Just leave my son away from all this," Shan interrupted.

She started signing the papers without even thinking about what she was agreeing to.

But when she reached the last paper, Shan suddenly froze.

"Zhan... why are there custody papers for my son?"

She looked at him, hoping that somehow this was a lie.

"Sign them. You too, Yibo."

Zhan looked at Yibo.

"I know that if something happens, u made arrangements for everything concerning your son—where he will stay, who he will stay with, and even the property."

Yibo remained silent.

Shan signed the papers because she knew she couldn't do anything.

Everything was her family's fault, and she blamed herself too for not stopping them from doing those things.

And now, her son's life was in danger.

Yibo finally signed the papers too.

Tears filled his eyes.

He knew he had just lost his son, the child he loved more than his own life.

Even though he was a police officer, he had lost this war against the person he once loved the most.

And now he was losing his son too.

"The papers say that neither of u has any rights over Wang Taehyun anymore," Zhan said.

"They also state that you've given all parental rights to Xiao Zhan."

He looked at the papers again.

"And from now on, Wang Taehyun is Xiao Taehyun."
