Ellis opened his lilac eye, blobs of color forming into shapes around him as he returned to the waking world. Once again he had woken up in captivity, a living breathing gallery piece. He sighed, sitting up and grabbing the plate of gourmet food that had been left for him on his nightstand. It had been four years since his father had sold him, and he was extremely tired of being here. Every day was exactly the same, visitors would ooh and awe at his display. "The Unloved Prince", it was titled. If he was being honest it was a very fitting name, as he was in fact unloved. Ellis hadn't felt cared for since before his mother died.
He stood up, gazing out the window at the small-looking people below. It was time to stop feeling sorry for himself, even though he knew that. He sighed, brushing through his fluffy light blue hair with one of the combs they had supplied him.
"You up yet?" A voice snapped from behind his door. Ellis grimaced, turning the nob and seeing Silo, probably his only friend in the entire world.
"Hello, Silo..." He sighed, smiling slightly. Silo grinned, letting himself into the room.
"The boss said we're closed today so I thought I'd visit you!" Ellis's eyes softened gratefully. Silo's occasional visits were probably the only thing keeping him from insanity.
"You're so sweet," Ellis giggled. "I thought I was going to die of boredom."
"Me toooo, life's so boring when we can't hang out." He sighed dramatically. The two friends laughed, talking about anything and everything that'd happened since they last interacted. The fun was cut off suddenly, as screams were heard echoing outside of the room. Silo and Ellis glanced at each other, grimacing, before getting up.
"I'll unlock the emergency exit..." Silo sighed, digging into his pocket and pulling out a ring of keys. He grabbed Ellis's hand and quietly left the room, entering the blood-covered hallway. "Damn... What the hell is going on..." He whispered, rushing to the door and inserting the key. Ellis fearfully looked around, worried whatever did this would come for them next. "There! Let's go..." Silo grinned, throwing the exit door open and running ahead. Ellis started to follow him, but something grabbed his wrist from behind.
He spun around, looking up at the biggest, most muscular person he'd ever seen. Panicked, he pulled away, attempting to escape.
"Relax, I'm not gonna hurt you." The guy said, glaring down at him unpleasantly. "You're Ellis right?"
"Who are you... How do you know that...?" He whispered, fear filling his body.
"Relax... I'm just here to break you out. My name's Lapis." Lapis said, stretching slightly. "Ready to go?"
"Go where..."
"Wherever I take you." He stated, dragging Ellis out of his prison and into the world.
