Lapis had taken him somewhere that seemed to be a warehouse. He had started a fire, cooked dinner, and then went to sleep, never telling him what he wanted or why he broke him out in the first place. This was not good for Ellis, who overthought everything. He lay wide awake, uncomfortably resting on an old blanket Lapis gave him and stared at the stars. He'd never imagined seeing the sky again, but he was so glad he could. As he fell asleep, he prayed that Silo didn't get in trouble for losing him.

Ellis awoke to the sound of banging pots and pans. He sat up, staring at Lapis, who was trying to fight off an opossum with cooking equipment.
"What on earth are you doing..." He giggled, receiving an unamused look from the giant.
"What does it look like I'm doing." He sighed. "I'm clearly trying to save our breakfast." Ellis laughed again, getting up and scooping up the opossum.
"See? Breakfast is safe!" He said, smiling and putting the creature down. Lapis muttered something under his breath and handed him a boiled egg.
"Sorry, it's all we really have." He mumbled, sitting down.
"Thank you, Lapis!" Ellis smiled, eating the egg. He was used to fancier meals, but he didn't mind. "Do you mind telling me why you broke me out now?" Lapis nodded.
"Some guys were talking about you at the market. They said some prince was sold to a gallery, so I thought I'd save you." Ellis smiled.
"That's so kind of you..." He said spinning around.
"Not really... I just disagree with how corrupt the world is..." Lapis mumbled.
"Then let's fix it! Let's ensure that everyone gets a happy ending!" He said, grabbing Lapis's hands.
"Yeah... That sounds nice." Lapis smiled. "I'd like to fix the world with you." They stood silent for a moment, staring at each other silently before Ellis shivered. "Are you cold?" Lapis asked, concern visible in his pale eyes.
"A little... I think I'll be fine though, don't worry about it!" Ellis smiled, although it was very clear he should be worried. Lapis sighed.
"C'mon, we're going shopping." He said, letting go of his hands and walking ahead. Ellis thought for a moment, before running after him.

"Pick one," Lapis ordered, stopping in front of a stall that happened to be selling coats. "Feel free to pick out a pair of gloves too, I've got the money." Ellis looked up at him, slightly surprised that he was willing to spend anything on someone like him. He stood on his tiptoes and grabbed a puffy green coat and some wool mittens.
"Are these okay?" He asked quietly. Lapis nodded, scooping up the items and setting them on the counter.
"I'll buy these, thank you." He said, giving the silent employee the money. "Here you go," He smiled, handing him the coat and gloves. Ellis slid into the coat, instant warmth filling his entire body.
"Thank you, it's so warm!" He giggled, genuinely happy for the first time in a long while. Lapis nodded, gently taking his hand and walking over to a patch of grass.

They sat down, sharing the sun's warmth with the grass as they stared at the sky.
"How do you plan on saving the world, Ell?" Lapis asked out of nowhere. Ellis looked over at him, tilting his head thoughtfully.
"I want to fix how the world's run. I wish I could walk to the capitol and just fix everything.."
"I'll have to ditch the plan if it involves the capital." Lapis sighed. "I'm never going there."
"Why not?"
"It's a place for entitled shits who think they can do whatever the hell they want." He scoffed, looking at a tree nearby. "It isn't a place for normal people."
"Oh... That makes sense I guess..." He mumbled, leaning against Lapis's shoulder.
"Are you tired or something? We can go back to camp if you need to.."
"It's fine, I'm just a little sleepy that's all..." Ellis muttered. Lapis sighed, and before Ellis knew it, he was being carried back to camp in Lapis's arms.
