(I'd like to apologize for how quickly this is paced, and how confusing this one is, I promise it'll all be explained in later installments)

A loud crash woke Ellis from what had been a wonderful dream. He sat up, looking around frantically reaching for a light. Figures in the dark grabbed his arms and covered his mouth, dragging him out the broken window and into the cold.

When he opened his eyes again he was in a large room with birch floors and fancy curtains. He stood up, searching the room for an escape route. He couldn't be trapped again, he wouldn't let that happen. Besides, Lapis surely realized he was gone by now. He was probably out searching for him, bound to show up any second. As if on cue the old door swung open, and three men approached him. Fear filled his entire body. They were either here to return him to the gallery, or they were here for his head. His mind dove into tunnels considering all the reasons they might have taken him here. Each path of fear evolving into another, getting worse and worse each time.
"The king said you're too much of a threat to him. Sorry kid." He heard as a huge wave of pain flooded his entire body. Cold sharp metal had been lodged deep in his gut. He looked up at the men, tears in his eyes. The blade left his skin, leaving a grievous wound. The men left, closing the door behind them and leaving him for dead.

Ellis was now using all of his energy to hold his gut. He was fighting a battle against himself and losing meant death. He just had to last a little while longer, then he was sure Lapis would show up. A part of him felt cold, but at the same time, his coat kept him warm. Just focus on standing up. He thought repeatedly, taking deep breaths. Everything was going to be just fine.
