Son Oh Gong could scarcely believe his eyes when he arrived, the sight of his beloved Jin Seon Mi, now embedded on the ritual sword unleashed an anguish in him he had never known before.
His scream of anguish only served to chase Kang Dae Sung away, the coward human who had dared to hurt his Seon Mi, the clattering of the bloodied sword on the ground a token of what had just happened. For a moment he wanted to go after him, to make the human suffer for what he had done, but the body of his beloved faltering in front of his face was his priority.
"Seon Mi," Oh Gong shouts out, his speed making him a blur and he reached her before she hit the floor.
He felt the cold fear of losing her fill every inch of his body while he cradled her wounded form close, seeing the way her skin grew paler and the fabric of coat darkened with her blood.
But, she was still breathing, breath after breath, even while the blood continued to seep out of her, the enticing lotus scent surrounding him. A sob left him unwillingly while he pressed his head close to hers, kissing her and ignoring the dragon that had risen, even though he felt it collect the power to breach through to this world.
"Seon Mi," Oh Gong repeated, and he felt relief when her eyes opened, and she looked at him.
"You do everything I ask," Seon Mi said softly, her warm eyes fixed only him. She raised a weak hand, and laid it tenderly on his face, a tenderness only she had ever given him.
"I do. Everything," Oh Gon answered, taking the hand in his and giving it a kiss, "everything,"
"Go and finish this in my place," Seon Mi said, a sad smile on her face, "Truthfully, I'd wished your love wouldn't disappear when I'm gone, but now I'm fine. I feel better because of the bracelet. This way it will hurt you less,"
"The bracelet," Oh Gong said, lifting his hand together with hers, showing the wrist with the Geumganggo, "is useless,"
Seon Mi frowned at his words, her eyes fluttering closed with the blood flowing out of her. A weak breath is all she was able to take. He knew she didn't believe him.
"The dragon...," she gasped out, blood bubbling from her mouth and falling down her chin. Oh Gong ssh'd her, wanting her to spare her strength.
"I shall do what you ask," Oh Gong stated, trying to hold in the sadness. He knew that she wouldn't let him help her before he did this, "you watch Samjang, I shall defeat your dragon. You have to keep alive for me to do so, because I can only listen to you if you're alive,"
"I'll try," Seon Mi said weakly, believing his lie. He didn't care, as long as she lived, he didn't care that she just thought his love was because of the stupid bracelet. He could proof it otherwise after they had finished this, "please, kill it,"
"I will," Oh Gong said, his voice determined. The power of the dragon was growing, and he knew he would have to hurry, but still he took his time to tenderly put her to the ground, knowing that even the slightest hurt could end her.
It almost physically hurt him to step away from her, but he did. Turning around, he faced the dragon, filled with the intense want to fulfil Samjang's wish, not just want, but the intense need to finish it off.
If Seon Mi died, it was because of this vile creature and its darkness it wanted to spread. Oh Gong called to his strength, feeling the energy around him grow, and the dragon must have felt it as well.
Oh Gong saw it turn to him, watch him in fascination. Then he saw it poise his muscles ready to strike him down, knowing that the great sage was the only thing between him and freedom.
