The young Na'Vi had spent all the morning talking about the Lo'Nan traditions, Selene even showed them her Hunter stripe and explained to them what being an Hunter meant.

"You've been looking at my sister way too much" Aonung said to Lo'ak out of nowhere.

Selene's ears flickered, they didn't know?

"What?" Lo'ak said shocked.

"I can't do this again" Kiri rolled her eyes as she walked out of the water.

"Kiri wait, don't leave me with an angry Aonung" Rotxo went after her.

"Aonung, I bet I can win against you in a race with our Ilus" Neteyam drew Aonung's attention away from his brother.

"As if you can, c'mon forest boy, I'll show you" the two boys went away with their Ilus to race, but before going Neteyam gave his brother a dead look.

"They don't know?" Selene asked, Lo'ak and Tsireya's head snapped towards her.

"Know what?" Tsireya asked.

"That you are mated" the Lo'Nan pointed at Tsireya and then at Lo'ak.

"How do you know?" Lo'ak was confused.

Selene tapped on her ears "I can hear your heartbeats, once two Na'Vi mate their heartbeats become one and they go at the same pace and yours...Well, they're the same."

"Please don't tell anyone! My family still doesn't like him" Tsireya begged her friend.

"I won't, your secret is safe with me."

"Promise?" Lo'ak held out his pinkie finger towards Selene, praying that she knew what he was doing because otherwise that would've been really awkward.

"Promise" Selene smiled and interlocked her pinky with Lo'ak's and touched his thumb.

"What's this?" Tsireya asked confused.

"It's a thing the Sky People do to ensure that they will fulfill their promise" Selene explained.

"I think it's time to get out of the water" Lo'ak said. The three teens walked out of the water but when the water of the height of Selene's waist the girl's eyes rolled to the back of her head and she lost consciousness, falling.

She regained consciousness immediately as her face hit the water.

"Selene! Are you alright?" Tsireya asked worried.

"Are you sure you aren't going to die? Isn't this your sixth day outside the cave?" Lo'ak helped her stand up.

"Who's going to die?" Neteyam asked swimming towards them, Aonung next to him.

"Nothing serious, I fainted for a few fractions of a second" Selene acted like it was nothing.

"You fell in Lo'ak's arms? And here I thought you would only fall for me" Neteyam joked.

Selene didn't know what to say.

"Actually, she fell head in the water" Lo'ak tried to hold his laugh.

"And I missed it?" Aonung laughed.

"There's nothing to laugh about! They say that if a Lo'Nan stays outside the caves for too long they'll die!" Tsireya was worried and frenetically looked at Selene, trying to see any possibile hint of a discomfort.

"It's all right, Reya, I've probably just been under the sun for too long" Selene tried to calm the Metkayina down "Even when I went out the caves I was in the forest, I always had a shadow where to rest so I am not used to being in the sun for a long time, I'm not going to die."

"The first phrases you're going to learn are the ones that you can use in dangerous situations" Neteyam told Selene while sitting in front of her. For their first lesson of Sign Language he had chosen as a meeting place a part of the island close to the water but where the palm trees were tall and had large leaves that made plenty of shade.

"Understood sir" Selene didn't notice how her words made Neteyam's ears go down.

The boy coughed "The first thing you'll learn is how to ask for help, copy after me", Neteyam started moving his hands.

"Slower, Teyam" the girl said trying to focus on the boy's hands but they were going to fast for her to memorize. The boy stopped his movements.

Teyam.

She called him Teyam.

Cute.

His tail swayed from side to side happily.

"Look" he sat down composed and started showing the signs slower "Understood?"

"No" the girl smiled.

"Oh Eywa!" Neteyam sighed and took Selene's hand in his and moved them to sign 'help', "understood now?"

"I had already memorized it the first time actually" Selene tilted her head.

"So you just wanted to hold my hand? You could have just said so" Neteyam interlocked their fingers.

"Where did all this confidence come from, mister Sully?"

"I am a mighty warrior, I've always had it" the boy smirked "You know, I've escaped death once."

"Really?" Selene moved closer to him.

"Yes, four years ago some Sky People who had 'unfinished business' with my parents came and started a war against us, I got shot but Eywa saved me" the boy looked at his hand locked with Selene's as he talked.

"You met Eywa?" Selene's eyes sparkled in curiosity.

"I didn't see her, we were in a cave and I could only hear her voice...She told me that I was too young to die and that I still had something to do in this world, but I don't know what I have to do" Neteyam still didn't understand that Selene could hear his heartbeat, she knew that he was lying on not knowing why Eywa saved him, but she ignored that, probably Eywa herself told him to not tell anyone.

"After that I woke up" Neteyam finished his story.

"You are blessed, Teyam" Selene rested her head on the boy's shoulder and closed her eyes.

"Yeah, maybe I am" Neteyam said looking at the girl with a smile on his face before resting his head on top of Selene's.

Unknown to them they were being watched from the beach.

"Our son is officially an adult now" Neytiri smiled looking at her son from afar.

"He has been an adult for a long time, ma Neytiri" Jake said coming out of the water, he looked in the same direction as his mate "They look good together."

"Selene has a strong hearth and is a warrior, Neteyam is used to protect people, maybe it will be good to have someone at his side who can protect him" the woman looked down "We used to protect him, now we need to take a little step back...I'll miss the times when he was so small and in need of protection" Neytiri's smile was nostalgic.

"We can always try for another little Sully" Jake proposed hugging his wife from behind.

"Why not" Neytiri smiled.

Lo'ak was watching them from the water and tried to hold back his vomit.
