Ry'lo and Denise are the only two we brought into the meeting . I didn't want to intimidate any of them. Especially not that Reggie nigga. I would hate to have to shoot his ass. He's trigger happy and pissed that his wife is in love with me. What can I say, I'm a loveable mothafucka.
"Why don't you guys have a seat?"
Rome pulls out a chair for Denise and my brother and I look at each other. This is supposed to be a business meeting but hey, we are friends first.
"Are you going to pull our chairs out, Rome?"
"Are you a lady?"
"I'll give you that. Why does she get the chair closest to you?"
"Because I didn't want to risk popping you in the mouth, Keli. Sit yo' ass down. Do y'all need something to drink or anything?"
It's funny watching him cater to Denise while trying to hide their relationship.
"I'm good, thanks for asking. Is it okay if I set up my equipment?"
I look at Link as he finally realizes who she is.
"Lincoln, I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Denise, and you sir have the tendency to make me second guess my skills."
"She's a woman."
He is stuck and everybody laughs. This is the best day of his life. And mine because Rome is about to fold his cards.
"She is very much a woman, Link. You came close to breaking through her defenses. We decided that we would wait until the perfect moment showed itself to introduce you guys. Are you into older women?"
"He's dating Kaidence, Keli. Leave the kid alone."
"Rome, Kaidence is tripping. I'm a free agent, and this woman is literally the ying to my yang."
"And she is also gon' be the reason you are in the ground nigga. Catch the mothafuckin hint. She's off limits, bitch."
Too easy. Kino passes me a stack of bills, laughing.
"Rome, you didn't even last five minutes. You owe me a grand."
"Kino, I expect this from that mothafucka, not you."
"Please. We are the same person. We tell you this all the time."
"I don't have time for your shit today, Keli."
We all laugh again.
"Pops, I like how you are just gon' skip over the fact that this is your lady friend and you are not going to introduce me. I'm June, this inconsiderate man's son. Let me introduce you to —."
"I hate to cut you off, but I am well versed on everyone at this table. It is a pleasure to meet all of you. Especially you, Roman. Is it okay if I give you a hug? Kehlani and I are close, I feel like I know you already."
"Sure, I don't mind. Is that okay, Pops? I don't want you to take my head off."
Rome shakes his head while Little Rome goes to hug Denise.
"Okay, gentleman. Should we get down to business? Link, I'll connect you to my database and we can see if you are actually prepared for this big launch our princess has planned for you."
