Chapter 3: Kiss

"Has Pope and Cleo come back yet?" I sat down on the bench on the dock. Sarah sat down on the bench next to me.

"Yeah they are in the front of the house. They came back a few minutes before you and Jj." She took a sip of the beer that she had in her hand. "Speaking off Jj what happened with you two today." She nudged me in the shoulder.

"Nothing really. He's staying at my place until John Bs dads house gets rebuilt. I had to take him to get new clothes since all of his burned with the house." I replied. Sarah frowned and took another sip of her beer. "I want to talk to him but I don't know if he wants to talk about it yet. It seems like I'm ashamed which I'm not but I don't want him to get upset."

"I bet he'll be fine. Besides I think he hasn't talked to you about it yet because you guys just haven't had time to talk about it." Jj and pope were coming down to the doc. Jj had a beer in his hand and was yelling at Pope about something irrelevant. "Bows a perfect chance. I'll lead Pope away when I get the chance."

Pope and Jj got to where me and Sarah were sitting. "What's up fellow new kooks?" Pope opened his beer with his teeth and took a big sip from it. I watched as Jj sat right next to me and set his beer on the railing behind the bench. "Ya know being a kook isn't as different as being a pogues. I feel completely the same."

"Pope you've been a kook for like 2 weeks and you haven't spent your money on anything. Obviously you feel completely the same." Pope pretended to lunge at Jj and Jj playfully did the same thing back. "Where's John B and Cleo?"

"Cleo's out getting ice from my dads shop and John B is out doing something. They both should be back in a bit." Pope got up from the bench he was on and began walking down the doc. "I'm going to go call Cleo to find out when she's going to be back."

My eyes flickered to Sarah's as I realized this was the perfect opening. "I'm actually going to call John B too. Just so I can find out where he is and make sure he's okay." Sarah got up from the bench and ran off the doc.

The sun had almost completely set and the lights that were strong across the docs roof lit up. I shifted my body toward Jj as he took his beer off the railing and took a sip. "Jayj. Can we talk?" I could hear him take a deep inhale. "About Kitty hawk?"

He bit the inside of his cheek. "Yeah."

"I feel like ever since Kitty hawk you've just not wanted to talk to me or be around me. I felt like after the kiss we finally got somewhere but when we got back to here after we got the gold...you just got distant again."

He looked up at me with glossy eyes. "Look Kie." He put his index finger over his mouth and rested his head on his palm.

"No don't do that Jj. I know what happened in kitty hawk was what we had both been waiting for. I think that one moment was the best thing to ever happen to me and I don't want you to just back out of this because you're scared of messing it up." I grabbed his free hand and held it. "Jayj. I love you."

He too his head off of his hand and moved closer to me. My heart began to beat faster than it ever has before. I looked into his lustful eyes as he placed his hand on the side of my face. He licked his lips before moving his face inches away from mine. "Jayj-"

Before I could finish he pressed his lips to mine. His soft and warm lips fell perfectly on to mine. I felt as if all everything else in the world didn't matter. As he moved his head I moved closer yearning for more. His lips parted from mine and I tried to collect my thoughts. "Kie. I don't want to mess this up."

He still had his hand on the side of my face. I put my hand on his and smiled. "You're not going to. I want to be with you Jj. And I know you do too." A small smile formed on his mouth and I couldn't help but giggle. "Just let this happen."
