A soft knock came from the other side of my door. I groaned and got up from my bed that I had been balled up on for the last hour. I unlocked the door and the person on the other side slowly pushed it open. I didn't even care to look back at who it was. I had just assumed it was someone I didn't want to see.

"Kie?" A soft female voice came from the doorway. It wasn't my moms. I turned around and Sarah was standing in my doorway.

"Sarah? What are you doing in my house! My parents would kill me if they found out I had people in here right now! They aren't exactly in the mood for people to be in the house." She came farther into my room and sat down on my bed.

She let her back hit my bed. Her mouth pulled straight from the corners. "Well I don't think they'll know. JJ's window is pretty easy to access."

I scoff. "Yeah well, probably not going to be his room for much longer." I sat on my bed next to her and ran my hand through my hair while sighing. "Sometimes I wish I never came back from that island."

"Kie... if you didn't leave that island you'd be dead."

"Yea- okay well... just let me have my moment." I groan while rolling to my side, covering my face. "My relationship with them was going great but then some lady from Kitty Hawke shows up and now they're going insane! Kitty Hawke was so long ago and just because someone asked a question they've turned on me! It doesn't make sense!"

She pushed a piece of my hair out of my face and smiled. "They care about you Kiara. You know that. They are just stressed out and want to make sure their daughter is heading in the right direction in life."

I hadn't thought of it in that way. I looked down at my hands as if I was searching for a response written on them. "If they cared so much they would stop."

"You know they aren't going to stop caring for you."

"That's not-"

"Ah! You know that's what you meant. All they are doing is caring about their daughter. There isn't a single ill intention behind their actions. Are they sometimes extreme? Yes. Trust me kie they just want the best for you and you can't hold a mistake they made over their head for the rest of their lives."

"They want to kick Jj out Sarah. That's not a mistake." I scoffed.

"Did they say they wanted to kick him out right now?" She questioned me and I knew exactly where she was going with this.

"No." My voice was low.

"See kie that's your issue. They probably meant they want him to move on some day. Just like how they are going to want you to move on some day. Trust me if Jj was staying in my house for a long time I'd want him gone too. I don't mean that in a mean way but he's a bit much." She was right but I was still upset. I didn't like agreeing that my parents intentions weren't negative. I couldn't decide wether saying I was wrong or keep fighting this fight would be me harmful to me.

I was silent. I didn't know what to say or what to do with myself. Sarah was so gentle about how she said things. She knew exactly what to say to not set me off. Im glad we made up after everything in the past. I wouldn't have my best friend I have now. "You don't have to say anything. You can sit with that for as long as you want. You know I'm right though."

I grumbled and she laughed. "Whatever."

"Oh yeah you know I'm right." She got up from my bed and went to my bedroom window. "John b I waiting out in the Twinkie for me." I came to her side and looked out with her. "I know I just gave an amazing speech about how your parents care about you but you don't think they'll be too mad if I sneak you out?"

A wide smile grew across my face. "Oh I can't imagine they will be too mad." We exploded into laughter and we ran towards my bedroom door.

"Oh wait you'll need to climb out the window-"

"Just go out the front door." I grabbed her hand and we ran down the hall and then the stairs. My parents we sitting in the kitchen. Our loud footsteps alerted them immediately as we reached the bottom.

"Kiara? Sarah!" My mom yelled as we ran past them. "Where are you going! Sarah how did you get into my house?" My mom came around the kitchen counter and moved towards us.

"I'll bring her back tomorrow Mrs.Carrera!" We rushed towards the front door. I frantically fidgeted with the locked front door as my mom got closer to us.

"What? No Kiara!"

"Sorry Mrs.Carrera!" Sarah shouted to my mom as we both ran out the front door. Our laughter followed us as we jumped into the twinkies back seats. It took me a few minutes to stop laughing and realize Jj was sitting in the front seat. I wasn't entirely sure how he got out of the house without my parents seeing and hearing. He had probably used Sarah's method. "Drive!" She shouted as my mon came stomping towards the van.

"I'm trying!" John b turned the key and the engine stalled. It finally started as my mom was pulling on the door handle. Her muffled screams from the other side were drained out by me and Sarah's cry laughing. The van sped away from my house and far down the street. "Kie I don't think your mom likes us very much anymore."

"You think?"
