    You'll be happy to know this is a long chapter

   Tori pov

    Even with my wings, Shinso still insists on walking me home once I get the call that the detectives are done. Dad said he's gonna meet me there, right after an important meeting with Principal Nezu. I wonder what it's about. 

    Dad texts me to let me know that it is in fact a school day, and I'm in fact still doing school. Grumbling in annoyance I stuff my phone into my pocket, causing a few stray down feathers to flutter on the sidewalk. We pad forward in a comfortable silence until a clatter from the ally causes us to jump into defense mode. I grab a sharpened feather off my back and hold it out in front of me, prepared for a fight. Shinso has his fists clenched in front of him and is on high alert. 

     The enemy leaps out from behind the trashcan with a small food scrap in its jaws, and gives us a confused mewl.

  ...I let out a choked breath of relief. I can't believe we got so jumpy over a stray cat. Behind me I hear Shinso's  slow exhale. I guess the attack rattled us more then we thought. I mentally kick myself. I'm in class 1A for gods sake, I should be handling this so much better.

   We don't even acknowledge what just happened, instead just continuing our short walk home. When we finally reach my house, Dad's car isn't in the driveway. Shinso and I walk inside, dumping our stuff in the hallway, knowing we wont get scolded after yesterday. I feel like I'm sorta taking advantage of Dad, but after him giving me extra homework for being late he kinda deserves it. We plop on the couch and chat for a minute, but then he starts to finish some of yesterdays homework. It's still pretty early in the morning, so we have about an hour till school. Bored, I open my phone.

    A weird pop up comes up when I open youtube. And, obviously, my very clever desision is to click this mysterious site. No wonder my phones so slow, its probably infested with viruses. I'm greeted with a dark looking clip with a speech about a hero society overrun with fake heroes who throw their power around, and don't really care about us. The video ends with the name 'stain'.

   I almost 100% agree with this. There's something not even Shinso knows.

   I don't want to be a hero.

  I never have.

  I want to be a vigilante.

  The rules are stupid. Just cuz I don't have a lisence to use my quirk means I have to let someone bleed out on the streets instead of flying them to a hospital? That's actually one of the reasons I've gotten arrested. The other reasons were not as heroic. No one ever told me street fighting was illegal. 

   I agree with the statement that 'society is overrun with fake heroes'.  Almost nobody actually has everyone's best interests in mind. I've gone around with this resentment for most heroes buried deep within me for practically my entire life. The only reason I'm training to be a hero is out of dept to Aizawa. I mean, the man adopted me when I was a toddler and raised me as a hero, I can't just tell him, 'nah I don't like the rules, sorry'. heck no. So all this time I've choked down my anger and kept my head low as "heroes" do as they please.

   I quickly screen record this video; knowing the heroes, this will be taken down almost immedietly. This single clip has stirred up so many buried feelings, it kinda scares me. Shinso must see my concentrated face because he plucks my phone from my hands. Thank god I clicked out of the link already.

  "What were you looking at?" He raises a pierced eyebrow at me. I attempt to snatch back my phone but he slaps my hand away.

  "Nothing, gimmi my phone you punk." He simply hums at me, letting me know he doesn't believe me at all. But he does give me my phone back. I scowl and duck my head to check the time. "OH SHIT WE'RE SO LATE TO CLASS" I scramble to grab my bag. A wide eyed Shinso does the same as we hurry to not get grounded for cutting class. I anxiously run my fingers through my unruly hair. How are we gonna get to school? Dad has the car, and I can't fly both of us quick enough.
