Long ago-- an ancient story.

There was a beautiful, kind, young woman with fox ears and a fluffy tail. Her features rivaled the sunsets and the starry night skies. Anyone that was to wed her was said to be blessed with prosperity.

One day, she was attacked and chased away from her home. The attackers had successfully cornered her, inflicting a fatal wound upon her before disappearing.

Within her last moments, she walked to a nearby shrine in hopes of saving the life she held dear. She begged to the gods for aid, but not one seemed to hear her cries.

She collapsed in front of her destination. She no longer had the strength to stand.

Black dots invaded her vision, and within the last moments of imagery, she could've swore she saw a someone reach out to her.

She begged once more, tears mixing with the sprinkling water from the clouds.

She soon felt warmth. Then she fell into darkness.

The lady's eyelashes fluttered as she awoke from her slumber. The first thing she noticed was the softness of futon she rested on, and the warmth of the sun that bathed her.

She levitated upwards, sitting up to gaze at her surroundings. Flowers and wet soil filled her senses along with the wind chimes that sang in the wind. She could see the protective talisman that hung on the tress and pillars from the opened shoji door.

Indeed, she was in the shrine! Though, she carried no recollection on how she got where she rested now. Everything was blur. An important fragment of her wandering lost within her memories.

Another door opened, causing her to look in its direction. She was met with the striking amethyst eyes of a man; A Youkai of nine tails and a handsome face, carrying a plate of sakura mochis.

His long, elegant, pink hair swayed as he took cautious steps towards her. He crouched down and inspected the young maiden once he was close enough. Neither said a word as they gazed into each other's curious hues.

When he finally spoke, it was like honey to her ears. Husky, low, and as calm the spring breeze. She talked to him, too. Thanking him for saving her life and, that for doing so, she was willing to give it to him.

From that day forth, the two co-existed with one another. And as the days passed by, they both found themselves making way into each other's hearts. breaking down the walls and entering with a warmth that could only be described as 'love'.

Seasons went by, and soon, the woman fell pregnant. Conceiving a child of passion. The emotions spilled that day could fill an ocean, for they were overjoyed to receive such news. The Kitsune made sure to protect his lover and soon-to-be born baby with his life. Going out each day to gather the things his wife needed, or wanted. And as time passed, he got to watch her change.

She gave birth the following spring. Giving life to a healthy, and beautiful baby girl-- said child being the spitting image of the man she loved. Fluffy ears and all.

Each day was filled with baby giggles, smiles, and soft coos. The sun would forever shine on them, and their family.

Until one day, when the clouds would smother the sun, and plunge their world into eternal darkness.

Roars of hunger filled the air as demons rammed into the gateway of the shrine, screeching in agony when they were repelled by the protection spells that surrounded the home of the Kitsunes.

Rain covered the forest in a gloomy atmosphere as the young woman coward in fear, holding her crying bundle of joy close as her lover fought off the demons in their homestead. Sacrificing his life in the process.

The sun soon rose. It's touch, surrounding the glade and engulfing the Kitsune in light, transferring the power to his baby girl as his body disappeared into ash.

In despair, the woman left the shrine in search of help. Soon coming across a prosperous village high within the mountains. There, she started a new life for herself and her daughter. Selling pastries from a shrine-like shop she nicknamed after her late husband: The Strawberry-Tipped Vixen.

The shop and shrine still remain today. Now owned by her last, and only, child.
