Luke was confused and frustrated to say the least. He loved Thomas, but he felt better, safer, happier, with Michael. He wanted to tell Michael that he didn't want to break up with Thomas but, like usual, he was too scared. He knew it was for the best though. Luke never believed Thomas loved him, no matter how many times he told the blonde boy, because Luke believed no one could love him.
I don't want to like you but, hell, I think I'm falling in love.
Luke keeps thinking about what Michael said a few nights ago. Was it true or was it just Michael's drunk thoughts messing with his head? People say drunk confessions are sober thoughts, but Luke doesn't believe a word he said.
Since today is Michael's first day at his new job, their date had been planned for the next day and Luke couldn't be more nervous. The tall boy can't deny that he hates being scared of everything all the time. His anxiety makes him think negatively and come up with unlikely scenarios, and he's often afraid he'll embarrass himself. Luke's been thinking about the neglected pills that lay in his bathroom cabinet. He's sick of being anxious and awkward, so much so that he would rather be numb. Luke remembers that he stopped taking the pills because the numbness that came with them was unbearable but right now, he wants it more than anything.
So the blonde boy goes to the bathroom and holds the bottle in his hand, contemplating what to do.
Feeling nothing is better than feeling everything. Luke thinks.
So he takes two and sits on the couch, waiting for the screaming voices in his head to stop.
Michael hates working and he hates people, so to say he hates his new job would be an understatement. The only thing keeping him decently happy that day is the excitement of his date. He's convinced that his and Luke's date will be perfect. He hopes Luke feels the same way.

*The next day*
Luke gets up early that morning and takes his pills. Since Michael wanted to have a lunch date rather than a dinner date, Luke decided to start getting ready. After finally deciding on wearing his black skinny jeans and his you complete me(ss) shirt with a flannel over top, he did his hair in his usual quiff. The rest of his morning was spent staring into the tv, barely paying attention to what was on.
Michael woke up at 11:00 AM and realized that he had to get ready for his date. After quickly brushing his teeth and finding some decent clothes, he arranges his hair so it's perfectly messy and sits on the couch. He's nervous.
He thinks about Luke, and how much he likes him. Soon Michael realizes that Luke is almost all he thinks about. Thinking back to when Michael decided to distance himself from Luke, he wonders if he even tried. Since then they've been so close, hell, they kissed. And that scared Michael.
When Michael realizes it's nearly 12 o'clock, he pulls on his shoes and walks to Luke's apartment, which is only like 2 feet away from Michael's door. Luke answers a few moments after Michael knocks. The red-haired boy smiles despite the fact that no one has said anything yet, he just finds Luke so pretty.
"Are you ready to go?" Michael asks.
"Yeah, let's go." Luke smiles happily.
Michael opens the door of his car for Luke, like the gentleman he is, and Luke can't help but smile like a little girl who found out their crush likes them back. The two boys make idle chit chat while good music plays in the background, and Luke has to admit that he feels happy. Soon they arrive at a cute little restaurant seems very family oriented. Michael bravely takes Luke's hand as they walk towards the entrance. The person who will be showing them to their table gives them a polite smile and tells the boys to follow her. After they're seated and their drinks are ordered, a slightly awkward silence falls over them.
"How was your first day at work?" Luke asks.
"Well, let's just say I'm not looking forward to going back." Michael chuckles.
"Did something happen?"
"No, no, I just don't like people. or working." Michael shrugs and Luke gives him a small laugh.
They end up having a great conversation along with some great food. And they both felt happy. When they parted ways later that day, the two boys felt great and they couldn't wait to see one another again.
Then reality set in.
