Chapter 6 - The Million Dollar Owl House
It's been a few days since we took Helios' body to the Owl House for treatment.
He still hasn't woken up.
We've been hanging about alongside Helios, who's lying down on a bed and has been sweating and roaring with demonic fierceness for some time now, and it wakes up Hooty so much, as to disturb him deeply and think there might be an intruder and tries to bite his head off, which he try to prevent, and are getting tired from doing.
Lilith and Eda arrived to give us some news.
"Alright, kid." Eda says to Gus. "I've already informed everyone who attended your funeral that you're alive, including your dad, who you visited. Correct?"
"Yeah." Gus replied. "It still feels weird, but I guess everything's gone back to normal. Sort of. Glad to see dad's fine, actually."
"I've also helped Lilith in re-registering your birth certificates and other miscellaneous services you subscribed to." Eda said. "So yeah, everything has gone back to normal, so to speak. As if what I just said was normal at all."
"No," said Hunter: "it is not."
"However, things like YouTube and Penstagram are things you're gonna have to redo yourself." Eda explained.
"Aww," said Gus: "now I'm gonna have to find those obscure music videos by Buskin Stieber and His Town!"
"Do you mean Justin Bieber and Chris Brown?" Willow asked.
"Uh... yeah!" Gus replied.
"Eda?" I asked.
"Yes, Luz?" Eda asked.
"Have you ever met other people, in your life, who... well..." I uttered.
"Who raised the dead?" Eda asks.
"I know of a few people." Lilith said. "Necromancers are uncommon these days. Quite frankly because they truly are... odd."
"I've got 10 contacts at the top of my head, and in a notebook somewhere, just gotta find it." Eda said. "And of all those 10, 5 raised more than one. I only know one who died. And she died from unrelated injuries and other causes."
"Do you find it immoral?" I asked. "The use of... people?"
"For necromancy?" Eda said. "Well, not really. Believe me, Luz. I've seen worse things out there. And compared to Belos? I'd say that Helios kid is innocent in all of this. Belos was aware of his actions, and Helios was influenced by... uh, this book."
"Kalos." Gus said.
"Kalos?" Lilith asked. "My, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time."
"You knew her?" I asked.
"Good heavens, no." Lilith replied. "I'm not that old. Only that I wished I knew her. She was a powerful witch who truly believed that necromancy would help make the world a better place.
And in fact, she modernized necromancy at a time when the practice was more a vaudeville than a magic. When the risk of necromancy was death, and even then, the result was far from perfect. The soul didn't quite bond with the body as much.
It's because of her that Gus, you're here right now. You grow, breathe, and live once more, with no repercussions such as you only get to live 5 years before you disintegrate or you turn into a zombie or other such nonsense. It's the real deal."
"Wow." Gus said. "So I'm really back, huh."
"Hey, relax Gus." Willow said. "If it had failed, I would've remembered you for as long as my life."
