After the battle with the King of Dragon...
It looks like a natural disaster hit the place with the destroyed buildings and abandoned cars. There are bodies of dead magic beasts and humans scattered around.
A dungeon break and a really nasty one with dead humans lying around.
Since the first gates appeared many years ago, the majority were found and dealt with quickly thanks to proper management and monitoring. Sometimes gates sneak up on you and go unnoticed until too late like the one in the neighborhood where I used to live that landed me in a hotel.
When that occurs, the military is sent into action to buy time until the Hunters show up. Human weapons like guns don't do much against magic beasts since their muscles and/or skin are tough and bullets don't penetrate. They consider it an act of valor that these humans sacrificed their lives to save the populace.

Scanning the area, there was a sounder of 4-5 large boars the size of a truck.
