She refused to go to her place. I have a sneaking suspicion it's about her mom. I don't push. Besides, I'll be dead meat if someone sees me there. But that means we can't use the internet and I don't want her at my house either. So we plan to go to the local library to talk and try to see what's going on. It took no more than ten minutes to get there but it was already snowing pretty hard.

"Ugh, you'd think spring would come sooner." I grumbled, pulling my coat closer.

"It's Omaha. 'Bipolar Weather' is their trademark." Violet remarked as we headed inside. The place was pretty big. One side dedicated to kids and other adults. The kids section was filled with puzzles, bean bag chairs and computers for video games. I remember going with Violet here when we were kids. As Violet talked to a librarian I spotted it. In the kids section there was a tiny corner to the top left of the section. There was a space between two bookcases. The wall was painted as a picture from Alice in Wonderland, with the rabbit hole in the space. Violet and I would always sit there, reading stories and eating chocolate bars, praying we wouldn't get caught. A memory flashed before my eyes.

We were in the same spot as usual. Violet was reading me 'Diego the Lonely Dragon'. My favorite. I pushed the book away. Violet looked at me and smiled in confusion.

"What?" she asked. I stuck a hand up.

"Best friends forever?" She smiled wider and clasped her hand with mind.

"Even after ghosts invite us over to visit." We hugged.

"Ferris." her voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked up at her with books tucked under her arm. She nodded to a table in the adult section.

"All the computers are taken but I found some books. C'mon."

I followed her. She set down the books. They were varying sizes and thickness with titles like Introduction to the Supernatural and Guide to Demon Hunting and Ghost Tracking.

"I found all the books they had on this stuff. It might help to tell me what's been happening to you. " I sighed, trying to think of where to start.

"Well...it wasn't really anything at first. Just started as bad situations piling on top of each other. Then these really weird dreams that seemed so surreal and also very detailed nightmares. Then writing appearing and disappearing in a blink of an eye. I got followed by...something after school. Then...well, you know what happened. Hell, I'd be shocked if the whole town didn't know by now." her head ducked down.

"What?" I asked.

"You, uh, were on the front page of the newspaper yesterday actually..." I groaned and hit my head on the table.

"Of course." I felt her touch my shoulder.

"C'mon, it's not that bad. They kind of portrayed you okay. A 'freak, unexplained accident' is what they called it." I lifted my head a little. Cal didn't tell me that. I'll have to ask later if he knew. Then I looked at the hand on my shoulder and then at her again with a confused look. Violet jerked away and then hit my shoulder.

"Ow." I rubbed it.

"That's what you get for being a dumbass. You must've pissed somebody off pretty good and I know it was your fault. Is there any suspects." I glared at her.

"Besides me." She said annoyed. I shook my head no.

"You're the only one that comes to mind. Everybody else likes me pretty well." she scoffed and looked at me in disbelief.

"What fantasy world do you live in? The kids at school don't like you. They want to be you. They idolize you but that doesn't mean they won't do whatever they want to get you out of the way and them to the top. Plus there's the fact that you bully everyone in your line of vision."

"I do not-" I tried to start but Violet interrupted.

"Yes you do!" someone shushed us and she lowered her voice.

"Everyday is a new target with you. Paul W. two weeks ago. Emily Kane Thursday. Even when I was hopeful you would come to grips and stop being an ass in Sophmore year there was that kid you were relentless on." Oh yeah. Him. Never knew his name. It was at minimum two insults each day. At first I didn't want to do it but I wanted to be cool so bad. After awhile it became a part of me. The next year he moved I think and I never saw him again. She flopped a book in front of me.

"C'mon start looking. I haven't heard of your case so let's go."
