Catherine's POV

"What have I gotten myself into? This will be my last day on Earth." I panicked  Salvatore held my head and urged me to face him.

"Look at me." He said. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, and that caused butterflies to erupt in my tummy.

Catherine, you are about to die, and all you can think about are butterflies.
My mind screamed at me.

"I promise you Catherine, nothing will happen to you." He assured me.

At that point, all my fears were gone, and I felt safe.

"Portals con te e assicurati che sis Al sicuro." He said to Anthonio

"Si capo."

"Let's go Cat." Anthony grabbed me by the arm.

"What about Salvatore?" I tried yanking away from Anthonio, but he kept his hand firmly on my arm as we ran. "We can't leave him here," I added.

"He will be fine Catherine." He gave me a reassuring smile as I entered the car. I heard a siren from a distance as we drove away.

"Oh my! The police are involved." I panicked again.

"Don't worry; everything always turns out fine." So he said to me, but I could feel the uncertainty in his voice.

I exhaled deeply as the whole scenario refused to leave my head.

"Anthonio!" He nodded, giving me the approval to continue.

"You mentioned something earlier Capo ti do tutti. What does it mean?"

He smiled. "It is pronounced Capo di tutti i capi and it means boss of all bosses."I gave him a confused look.

He sighed but continued, " Salvatore D' Montez is not just the boss of D'Montez mafia family, he rules over seven families in Italy but rumor has it that some families are planning to pull out." He sighs

"This is not the first time we are being attacked, Salvatore has a lot of enemies and we still can't figure out who is behind it." He added

"What is that supposed to mean?"

He turned off the car engine. "If you have any other questions, then you have to wait for Salvatore. I am in no position to tell you anything."

I had a lot of questions, but I
understood his point. Unfortunately, I have to wait for Salvatore to get back.

"Come on, let's go in. I am to stay with you until Salvatore comes back." He smiled.

I whined, "oh, come on!!! I am not a kid; I can protect myself."

He rolled his eyes, "Oh sure you can."

It's been seven good hours since the incident, Mr. Jerkface is not back, and I was freaking out. Anthonio has been on numerous calls speaking Italian, and I could tell from his facial expression that things are not going well.

I picked up my phone and did some research on the Mafia. Holy shit!!!, was this what Steve could not explain? This could be how they infiltrated my father's business.

How the hell did my father get involved with them?

The front door opened, Salvatore walked in, and I was stunned by what I saw. He looked haggard; I am certain he must have raked his hair a thousand times. He held a gun in his
left hand, and his perfectly ironed white t-shirt was covered in blood.

"You are fucking bleeding." I quickly rushed over to him and led him to the sofa.

"It's not my blood." He said quietly.
