Salvatore's POV

I still couldn't believe that Marco could betray me. I thought long and hard about why he did something like that but nothing fits. Everything was too quiet and it was nerve wracking. I tripled the security at home to protect Mia and Catherine, restricting their movement. Nowhere is safe until I have Marco in my custody.

When Catherine informed me about going to see an art exhibit with Mia I refused. I needed them close to me where I could protect them and since I was tied up with work I definitely could not go with them.  Catherine, who always defy my orders suggested going with  Anthonio and  I reluctantly agreed.

I left the house earlier because I got informed that my father will be coming to town soon.

I was sitting behind my desk, disturb by the fact that I need to inform my father about his first son betrayal when my phone rang, without looking at the caller ID I picked it up.

"Hello." I said with a stern voice.

The next thing I heard sent a sharp pain through my chest. I hung up, picked up my jacket on the couch. I made a quick call and left the office.

By the time I got to the parking lot, Vincento and the men waiting for me bowed slightly. The look on Vincento told me he must have heard the news. I got into the car and we drove out.

Throughout the drive, I hit the chairs hard continuously and gave out curses in Italian. I was trying to keep my calm but I couldn't. The most precious people in my life were involved in a car accident and it was driving me crazy knowing fully well that Marco might have a hand in this.

The moment I got to the hospital, I saw Anthonio at the reception waiting.

"Anthonio." I rushed to him and gave him a punch on his jaw.

"Dove eravate?" I yelled at him through gritted teeth.

Vincento held me from landing another blow to his face. "People are staring, Capo." He whispered. I looked around and everyone's eyes were on us.

I pulled Anthonio closer by his shirt. "Prega che non gli succeda." I whispered into his ears, "altrimenti mi assicurerò che tu lasci il tuo inferno sulla Terra" I said slowly.

I shoved him off before heading towards Catherine's room. I stood out the door, peeped through the window and watched as she was being attended to.

As soon as the Doctor came out, I was eager to hear what he had to say.
"She is fine. Thankfully, the accident did not cause any major injury."

I released a breath,  I did not know I was holding

"She is just unconscious, let's hope she wakes up soon." The doctor left with the nurses following behind.

I walked over to her bed, held her hand and squeezed it lightly. I allowed my other hand to glide through her hair all sprawled out on the pillow. I placed a kiss on her forehead gently.

"Please come back to me." I whispered softly.

A minute later I stood upright, turned towards the door and left.

"Where is Mia?" I asked Anthonio.

"She is still in the ICU." He said, leading us down the hallway.

"Any update on the goddamn truck driver." I asked Vincento.

"Yes, our men have been able to locate his home. He wasn't there when they arrived but we have his wife and three kids in custody. They are being questioned as we speak."

I smirked, "Perfect" I told him. "If he doesn't come forward, kill the second child first."

"Si Capo." He left to make a quick phone call..
