Finally I finished the report. I stood up from my seat and started stretching. I felt like a grandma. My whole body was hurting. I should have texted Mister Hong that the report was ready but I knew he would tell me to get into the helicopter that was waiting in the grass field next to the Town Hospital and come back to the City.
But I just wanted a few minutes. Just to go see Kai. I printed the report and signed it. Before getting out of my lab and going looking for Kai, who was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, looking over the newborn who were in special care and he was writing notes of the vitals of the infants.

Honestly this is the part of the hospital that broke my heart the most. It was a room that was filled with incubators that had babies of all sizes, some as the size of my palm and some who were a forearm size. Some had only one wire connecting to them and some had multiple ones depending on their cases and the severity of their condition
I saw Kai notice my presence through the window so I smiled at him but he didn't seem to smile back as I couldn't tell from his medical mask that he was wearing. He simply just looked at me and turned his back towards me. Making himself busy.
I'm not gonna lie, I hated that. I felt my nerves were on fire
I waited for him and eventually he finished and exited the room and started walking the opposite way of where I was
"Kai," I called, making him stop in his tracks. "Are you avoiding me?" I asked walking up and stand in front of him.
"I thought you were too busy to greet me," Kai said with a flat tone and there were no emotions in his eyes. I felt my heart tense up at the sight of it
Where was Kai who looked at me with loving eyes?
"I needed to get a report done as fast as I could" I explained
"Oh and now you have time?" he asked clearly not happy
"I wanted to see you before I go back to the City" I said causing Kai to roll his eyes "Kai" I whined in annoyance as I stepped towards him, opening my arms wanting to hug him but he step back
"No, go back to the guy in the city that you missed more than me," Kai said coldly, making me gasp at his words. I really didn't expect that from him
With that he gave me his back and walked away
