Probably strangers, possibly friends but definitely not nothing
those were the three thoughts that ran through my mind the very first time
you looked at me with those eyes and offered me a smile
I was mesmerised, to say the least, captured by your scent
I was lost in the depth of the blues your eyes held
I felt calmAs time passed by, you held your smile like a little wrapped-up gift on Christmas
I could never know how you handled my attitude or my meaningless fuss
I was glad nevertheless that you didn't snap at me
and how you held my hand in each situation like lights on a Christmas tree
I felt happyThings changed once again, I saw you smiling at your phone
the reason unknown but I got a feeling not a good one
it was confusing back then but now I can say
the feelings I had for you were not anything 'friends' felt
I guess you noticed that's why you put your hand over mine
with a little contagious smile,
I felt relieved._
Epiphany:
The first time your eyes met mine, I felt a rush of uncertainty—were we strangers, friends, or something more? Your smile captivated me instantly, bringing a sense of calmness. As we spent more time together, your constant smile and comforting touch made me genuinely happy. However, seeing you smile at your phone filled me with doubt. Yet, when you reached out and placed your hand over mine with that familiar smile, I felt reassured, knowing our connection was still strong.

Wrote this after listening to WHITNEY HANSON recite her poem one day. Isn't she lovely? She is one of the poets that inspired me to write. If you don't know her, make sure to check out her TikTok, Instagram accounts and poetry books.
She wrote about how the person drifted away and I wrote about how they grew closer to me. Keep reading!
