CHAPTER 1

I tossed my sheets aside looking for my missing index card for my review later on the way to school.

" Where is it? sh!t sh!t" I bent down and checked the corner of my bed but there was no sign of the index card.

" F**k! all the citations and important key phrases are there" I marched to my desk, checking my book bag again.

" Dito ko lang iniwan yon hindi yun pwedeng mawala! sh!t"

I was sweating bullets and overthinking the worst scenarios, no no no this can't be!

" Okay Ali, breath! it's just an index card, you prepared for this day, ilang linggo kang nag aral, kaya mo to! this all depends on you, not on your reviewer " I allowed myself a couple of deep breaths once again to try and calm myself.

Sinong niloko ko! that never worked for me and it sure as hell wasn't ever gonna work on me, not today.

I heard a knock on my door followed by a soft call.

" Ma'am Ali? naka handa na po ang kotse at naghihintay na daw po si Sir Raven"

I grabbed all my things and opened the door.

" Holly ano sa tingin mo? okay na ba tong suot ko?" I wore a white button up long sleeve blouse paired with high waisted slacks and my favorite Dr Martins boots.

Agad naman itong ngumiti at tumango tango pa.

" Bagay na bagay Ma'am Ali, sigurado akong papasa ka"

I smiled at her and gave her a side hug.

" Salamat Holly! mauna na kami, wish me luck! "

Nagmamadali akong bumaba ng hagdan at dumeretso sa garahe.

" Bout time! sabi ni Holly maaga ka naman nagising pero bakit nag mamadali ka padin" Raven opened the car door with a frown.

I scowled as I entered his sedan

" I was betrayed again by my power naps"

He just laughed and started the engine.

" You must be losing your sh!t right now" he gave me a teasing look while driving

" Don't start with me Madrigal " I gave him my warning tone

" What? it's understandable, kahit ako kakabahan kung sakaling bumagsak ako sa entrance exam, I'd have to wait until next year lalo na kung isa lang in-applyan k--- sh! t Ali I'm driving!" nag papagalit na sigaw nito ng makabawi sa hampas ko.

" Then stop acting like a lunatic! kinakabahan na nga yung tao eh "

Tanging tawa lang ang isinagot nito sakin, I just kept quiet and focused on remembering all the things I reviewed for the past few weeks.

He was right, pag hindi ako pumasa I'd have to wait for a whole year dahil ito lang talaga ang school na in-applyan ko because Tita Mariam wanted me to go here, Sino ba naman ako para tumanggi kung ito ang mag pa-paaral saakin. If I failed this, she would just say that there's always next year! gaya ng lagi nyang sinasabi saamin, which means titigil ako for a whole year without a real career while Raven and our friends thrive in their respective careers, hindi pwede yun at masyado naman nang nakakahiya sa pamilyang kumupkop saakin pati narin sa mga kaibigan namin ni Raven na alam kong patagong hinuhusgahan ang kalagayan ko, isang sampid sa mga Madrigal.

" Hey, you're overthinking again" pang kuha ni Raven sa attention ko

" I just don't wanna fail Raven, you know I don't have other plans besides going to Law School"

" I know, I was just messing with you, dont think about it too much okay? I'm sure kaya mo yan" he smiled trying to reassure me.

" Pero pano kung hindi ko maipasa to?Fortworth University has so many bright applicants for their Law School, pano kung hindi ako umabot sa acceptance list?"
