Ellio's Infierno

PROLOGUE

The heavy doors opened and I watched as he slowly walked towards the table and sat down the metal chair in front of me without breaking eye contact.

As if hell hasn't given me enough punishment, the devil sends its worst warden.

He swiftly placed his briefcase in front of me and brought out a folder with a logo that I am very much familiar with because I was the reason he wanted to work there. He was supposed to work in his family's law firm but when he found out I wanted to be a prosecutor he decided he wanted to be there with me on the same side and be known as a power couple according to him.

He signaled for the other people in the room to give us privacy, with a nod officer Legazpi and Regalado left the interrogation room but I doubt that they actually left us alone as I stared at the glass wall in front of us.

"Mrs. Madrigal, I am Atty Montevilla and I will be the prosecuting attorney for this case"

Noon siguro ay hindi ko magagawang tanggapin na nasa ganito kaming sitwasyon at malamang ay kanina pa ako nag umiyak dito, everything is so complicated and happening so fast, don't get me wrong, I feel like shit but what even is the point? I could scream and defend myself but I know that I deserve this.

The man in front of me cleared his throat to get my attention

" Mrs Madrigal? I am here to talk about the charges my client is putting up against you"

I just gave him a blank stare and focused on trying not to break down.

" So is this your plan? not to talk and let everything play out for itself ?"

In another time I would've given anything to be able to explain my side but if there's anything that our history has taught me, is that once Ellio Montevilla decides to condemn you, there's no way out of it.

He opens the folder and begins to read what I assume is a statement from Raven and his family.

"I've spoken with your lawyer, after all these years? you still come running to him? sya padin ang takbuhan mo pag wala ka ng malapitan."

I sighed and just lowered my gaze, I know where this is going, he's thinking that there's still something going on between me and Lyle, if he only knew.

Ayaw ko na sana pahabain ang proseso, I was willing to surrender pero nung nalaman ni Lyle ang kalagayan ko ay kaagad itong pumunta dito at inayos ang apila para sa kaso ko.

"Hmm I hope he's a better lawyer now than he was a law student. Hihingi ka nalang ng saklolo doon pa sa mahina ang utak "

I just kept looking down and tried to control my breathing while he continued his brutal assault.

"I'd like to see how he's gonna get you out of this rut, lalo na kung ako ang makakaharap nya. Oh baka naman may susuhulan nanaman sya gaya ng dati?"

I lifted my gaze and stared at his accusing eyes.

"H-he's just trying to help " I whisper

Tumawa ito ng parang ng uuyam

"How f***ing noble of him, does he even know what he's going up against?"

I shook my head trying to dismiss his words

"You're being charged with Child homicide, and he's going to defend you?"

I shook my head once again, denying this reality, I know I've made questionable decisions in the past and I couldn't blame him for thinking the worst, hindi basta basta ang sama ng loob na naibigay ko sa kanya, I took away the most important person to him.

"Sabagay mukha namang handa nyang pagtakpan lahat ng kasamaan mo, just like he always does, I wouldn't be shocked if he actually helped you kill that child " I snapped my head up to look at him, can he be that cruel?

"He doesn't know anything" I tried to sound forceful

Ellio just gave me a sarcastic smirk

"It doesn't seem that way and it's not like this is the first time he helped you "

" Tumigil ka na " I whispered my protest

he let out a chuckle, his deep baritone mocking me.

" What? did I hit a nerve? I'm just stating the facts Alejandra " he said through gritted teeth

" Why are you doing this? ano ba gusto mong marinig? you want a confession? go grab a paper "

Saglit itong natigilan.

He leaned closer until we were almost face to face

" What I want is to see you relive that moment in court and see guilt and remorse wash over you, I want the judge, the jury and everyone to see what a monster you are-"

he leans back in his chair

" -So no, I don't need your confession because sooner or later, I'll get the truth out of you"

Tumikhim ako bago umimik

"That's pointless because I already gave my statement, I admitted to the crime and I know all the evidence is pointing towards me. I have no one to corroborate an alibi for me so- I know this case is unwinnable even if you weren't the one prosecuting me "

I already said the same thing to Lyle and the police.

He just stared at me, jaw clenched and hands balled into a fist, he looked away and started gathering his things and spoke with an authoritative tone.

"Just tell Atty Nolasco that I will see him in court- and do his f***ing job" as he stood up and left the room.

Alam ko na hindi maganda ang lagay ng kaso ko. With him on the other side, I'm as good as convicted- and I know I deserved it. What's the point of them investigating me when the facts are so clear? nariyan na lahat ng ebidensya, pinatatagal lang nila ang paglilitis kesa bigyan ng katarungan ang ngyare kay Sophie, handa akong tanggapin ang ano mang kaparusahang ipapataw saakin.

I hurt someone and I have to face it's consequences and accept the truth-

-That my damnation was in the hands of the person who once promised to protect me.
