The season had finally ended. Charles run of wins had come to an end and unfortunately for Max the Red Bull wasn't very competitive apart from Mexico and Brazil.

Max and Charles had continued their little tradition of meeting up after a race as best they could but it was harder now because Charles was a race winner for Ferrari so every media outlet wanted interviews and pics.

Max had brought Charles to a place he had discovered in 2014 when he was at the grand prix as a guest of Torro Rosso who he would drive for next season.

There was a small restaurant which luckily was closed on race day that behind it had a small peninsula which went out into the sea. Here there was a beautiful view onto the ocean as well as the lights of other parts of Abu Dhabi and the track itself. Max had come here every year for a few minutes before the after season parties had begun. He loved to sit on the cool grass and reflect on the season. Every season ended with a hectic amount of travelling between different continents, different time zones loads of sponsor events, training and hotel rooms and actual racing of course. So for Max to finally be able to relax by the sea, with nobody around outdoors with his thoughts all to himself was something he looked forward to every year.

"Come on Charles sit down "
"Yes yes I am " came the response.
"You know you were right it's really beautiful Max"
The two men sat together in comfortable silence for a while each left with their own thoughts.
"Of course I'm right I'm Max Verstappen" laughed Max. As he turned to face Charles
"Oh shut up Verstap-
Charles was interrupted by Max's lips pressing against him. The kiss was passionate and full of emotion. A kiss years and years in the making. Charles felt like he was exploding inside, he certainly had never felt this way kissing a woman.
Eventually both men pulled away from each other.
"By the way Charles I forgot to mention I'm also not exactly straight although maybe you have figured that out now " giggled Max
Charles thought he was dreaming, in fact he must be dreaming. There was no way the man who he had a massive crush on, the seemingly straight man who was surrounded by women had just kissed him
"That was amazing Max " Charles said barley able to breathe.

Charles went to hug Max when suddenly he noticed Max was not there anymore but standing a little away from him
"Max?"

Max didn't know what was happening to him, he couldn't breathe tears were flowing down his face. Every emotion was powering through his mind. This was the same Max from the Monaco hotel room all those years ago, He had kissed a guy before but he was drunk didn't remember it and that was it but this just made everything so real, everything he had feared since he had first realised he was gay had come true. It didn't matter to him well at least he thought it didn't but kissing Charles had brought everything flooding back to him, He couldn't hide from it anymore. The act of kissing Charles another man just brought it home that he was actually gay and nothing could change that.
"Max"? a voice called out.

"Are you ok? MAX talk to me please "

"I'm sorry I've runied everything" cried Max
"No y-"
"I'm sorry Charles but I don't want to be gay, My dad will kill me all I've ever worked for will be gone, I'll lose my seat, I'll lose everything "
"Hey hey hey calm down no you won't that's not true I promise"
"I don't know Charles I just don't " cried Max as he hugged into Charles arms.

"It's ok Maxy, just tell me one thing though, Why have you kissed me when you are dating Kelly"
"Oh we don't really date Charles, it just keeps the media attention off of me and my life"

Christian horner watched on with slight amusement, amazement and everything in between from about 200 meters behind Charles and Max. He had been trying to find Max and then he had stumbled upon both men wrapped around each other. He didn't have a problem with Lgbtq people, but he was still slightly surprised to see Max Verstappen of all people kissing another man. Still he decided not to say anything after all in all his years in F1 he had seen many more surprising things.
