Try Not to Kill Me

Dave's eyes widened under his shades and he leaned back a little. "Oh my god, seriously?" Man, who was this guy? A part of Dave was hoping that Karkat was kidding, but he couldn't be sure. Well, he could be, but he wasn't.

Karkat simply shrugged, it was seemingly normal to him. "Yeah. I'm a great weapon." Well at thirty-two kills, that was for sure.

"Well, I'll try not to get on your bad side. Unless, it's all one big bad side." It sure seemed like it was. Karkat had had a pissed-off face since he entered the room.

Karkat's hands weakly curled into fists on either side of him. "I'm not gonna kill anyone." That would change. They practically went to this place to learn how to kill people better.

"Okay, okay." Dave looked off to the side a little, confused about the temper on his new roommate. "How did you manage to get thirty-two, though?" Would he share this information? Karkat seemed pretty confusing in Dave's eyes.

"Well, you could say it was my dad who figured out I was such a good weapon." Karkat sighed, looking down.

"Oh, wow, uh." He moved around a little, switching his legs around. "So, those weren't accidents..?"

Karkat shook his head. "No. Only one was an accident."

"Oh?" Dave raised an eyebrow at him.

"Yeah, I had a nightmare and managed to kill a random person." That wasn't exactly true, but it was the easiest way to portray an accident.

Dave felt kinda bad. He had had accident with his powers before too, but nothing that would kill someone. "Oh man. That sounds kind of... rough."

Karkat nodded. "Yeah. It was pretty shitty."

Dave thought for a few seconds. "I don't know if it would count as killing, but I just couldn't manage to save a few people." In Dave's opinion, that was just as bad as killing them.

Karkat shook his head. His thoughts were different. "No. Doesn't count."

Dave thought again. "Alright, then.. one."

The auburn nodded. "Nice. You got a story to it?"

"Wow, pushy." Dave sighed, looking down at his hands as he played with his fingers. "I was just an ignorant kid. I don't even know if it was an accident. I realize now how stupid it was."

Karkat nodded understandingly as he listened to the story, actually somewhat interested in what he would say.

"I just kinda. Managed to get this bully in my class to slip on ice on the blacktop at recess, is all. Or.. slip more than he would have."

Karkat raised an eyebrow. "With time shit, or whatever? Or were you just really upset?"

"Uh, both? Yeah." Dave awkwardly messed with his shades. "He was an ass, so I just wanted to embarrass him, but. Shit happens."

Karkat nodded a little more. "Yeah.. my dad told me that we were doing the world a favor. Killing the scum of the Earth. Though the 'scum' to him was just anyone who got in his way."

Dave looked up at Karkat questionably. "Was he the one who sent you here?" He was honestly surprised to be learning so much about him in such little time. Even if it wasn't actually that much.

Karkat shook his head, running a hand through his hair and sighing. "Nah, the assholes that run this place sent some people to bring me here. I was making new with the killings after my dad-.. ahem, I ran off. It took them three years to find me."

They had been looking for this kid for three years? He sure seemed like a big deal, now. "Wow, that long? You must be good at camouflage, dude."

"Well, if they got close enough to me, I would be able to hear their heartbeats, and took off." Karkat said, shrugging a little.
