There was a quietness that fell across the room for, what at least seemed like quite a while. The two boys exchanged glances now and then, although the smaller could never quite tell if he was actually making eye contact, with the dumb mysteriousness of the shades that constantly covered the other's face. At one point, Dave had leaned back on his forearms, and glanced up towards the ceiling. His gaze moved to the window that was just above his bed, and he studied it for a moment.

"Hmn.. it's getting late, already." He said, turning to better face the glass.

"Yeah, you're right." Karkat followed Dave's line of sight, peering out the window from his spot on his own bed. His eyes jerked to the side as Dave suddenly hopped off the bed, causing a small thud on the floor.

"Now." He said, straightening the hem of his baseball shirt. "We could be lame, and go to bed. Or.." He paused for obvious dramatic effect, looking away from Karkat just to look back when he spoke again. "We could sneak out."

Karkat squinted at the random idea. Was it even possible to sneak out in a place like this? After all the effort and people that went into getting him there, he wasn't sure he would be able to get out so easily. "Oh? And go where?"

Dave had his hands on his hips, in an almost heroic pose. "The fun of it is figuring that out." Although there weren't many options. His plan was really just 'outside'. He liked being out there. Yeah, he got to train outside, so it's not like he had no access. But during the day it was always crowded, or he was being hunted by the other students. He never really got to just experience being out there recently.

Karkat seemed unsure, but slowly stood up himself. He focused for a moment, tunring slightly towards the door. "Alright, well, there's no one around the room to stop us."

Dave focused himself, closing his eyes beneath his shades. "Okay, lemme just make sure." Before he could look into anything, his thought was interrupted by Karkat speaking. "Dude, I can hear the heartbeat of anyone within a fairly far radius." He gave the taller boy a look of 'come on, man.'

Dave stared at him, already returned to his pose of heroism. "Yeah okay, well that helps, but." He moved his hands up, a slight gesture towards his head. "Seeing the future?"

Karkat simply rolled his eyes, then nodded towards the door. "Come on, lets just go quick." He wasn't sure what made him actually agree to this so easily, but something inside him really just didn't give a shit about what could happen.

Dave smiled, hurrying towards the door. On the way to it, he grabbed Karkat's hand, pulling him along. He opened the door quietly, and they were soon both in the hall with the door carefully closed behind them, looking up and down the hall for anyone that could be near. "Hey uh, just." Karkat spoke quietly, his eyes fixed on Dave's hand that held more or less on his wrist. "Make sure you let go of me if you feel your heart start to do weird shit or something."

"Oh, damn." The sudden remembrance hit Dave and he released Karkat without a thought. "Yeah, try to keep that under control." He glanced up and down the hall again, making his way slowly down one end as he glanced down more corridors that he passed. He waved for Karkat to follow him, keeping his eyes ahead.

Karkat simply strutted down the hall, normally, rolling his eyes at Dave for what seemed like the thousandth time. "We already determined that there's no one awake around us, Dave."

The blonde kept his eyes forward, waving rapidly at the boy behind him. "Shh, you don't know that."

Karkat folded his arms as he continued behind Dave, annoyance in his voice. "Oh but yes, yes I do."

Dave shushed him harder, slowly crouching down as he walked, stumbling a little. "Stealth." He whispered, holding his hands out on either side of him as he made his way farther down the hall.
