Karkat flinched when a piece of popcorn flew from the other side of the room and hit him in the cheek, leaving a salty residue on his skin. He looked down at it and squinted before picking it up and twisting it in his fingers. "If you were aiming for my mouth, you're a terrible shot." He said, flicking it back.

"Maybe you're just a terrible target." Dave said, picking it up from where it landed on his bed and popping it in his mouth.

"This isn't working at all," Karkat mumbled, shifting into a sitting position from where he was laying on his bed. The two were on their opposite sides of the room, trying to watch the same movie from Dave's laptop on his own bed. "I can't see what's happening."

Dave scooted the laptop a little closer to the edge of his bed. "Was that supposed to help?" Karkat asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Shh," Dave put a finger to his lips and then pointed it toward the screen. "Pay attention. Key details are in the beginning."

Karkat stared at the other boy. "Yeah, I can't. I can't see it, dipwad." He stood up and walked the few steps to Dave's bed, and made a motion with his hand for him to move over. The blonde did so, scooting on his stomach to the far left of the mattress. Karkat sat down on the bed cross-legged, repositioning the screen in front of them so they could both see and turning the volume up a notch.

Dave looked at him for a moment behind his shades before turning his attention back to the screen.

"How can you see? Don't the colors get all messed up if you're wearing those?" Karkat spoke up, glaring in Dave's direction.

Dave shook his head, reaching forward to pause the movie. "Nah, man, you don't get it. The shades stay on. Day, night, in or outside, movie or not. I make it work." He pushed the glasses up on the bridge of his nose when he finished talking and nodded a little.

Karkat rolled his eyes without a word, starting the movie up again and reaching for a handful of popcorn. He watched closely and intently to the movie, as he was seeing The Avengers for the first time. Whenever he tried asking a question he was shushed by Dave, who had seen the movie multiple times but watched closely and intently as if it were his first.

Toward the end of the movie, Dave nudged Karkat's arm with his elbow and nodded towards the screen. "Hey, just like you."

Karkat looked back to the screen just in time for Bruce Banner to quote "I'm always angry," and he responded with a hard shove to Dave's side which made him half-roll across the bed.

"I am not always angry, asshole," he said with a glare, trying to shove Dave further off the bed.

The blonde laughed quietly and swatted back at the other's hands, trying to keep himself sturdy. "Hey, hey! Shut up and watch!"

Karkat settled, hiding the small smile that crossed his face and crossing his arms. He pointed at the screen when the Hulk appeared again, all green and raging. "And I do not do that."

Dave laughed, throwing his head back. "Okay, but are we really sure about that? I mean you've already gotten some pretty neat tricks up your sleeve, who's to say you can't turn into a giant green monster, too?"

Karkat shook his head, still watching the screen. "Don't you think you'd know by now?"

Dave pursed his lips, bringing his hands up to rest his chin on. "Very good point. Considering you're always angry."

Karkat punched him hard in the shoulder while still keeping his eyes on the movie. "Stop giving me reasons to be angry."

Dave held his right shoulder with the opposite hand, smiling at Karkat's violent but somehow amusing outbursts. "Damn, well you can sure smash like the Hulk. I mean-"

Karkat slowly turned his head to look at the other, furrowing his eyebrows in question.

"I mean hit. Punch. You punch with the strength of a Hulk in such a small angry human body. Who knew you could contain so much fury? I think my shoulder is broken." Dave quickly saved his mess-up and dropped his right shoulder in mock pain, leaning into Karkat. "You hurt me."

"Oh, dude," Karkat chuckled, shoving Dave away. "I could do a lot more than that if you don't shut your mouth."

Dave snapped back up and held his arm close to himself. "Never mind, all better. It's only a flesh wound, after all."

A moment later he was hit in the face with yet another piece of popcorn. "Shut up."

When the movie finally ended, both boys sat back and watched the credits start to roll. Karkat sighed and moved the popcorn bowl from his lap, standing up to stretch his legs. "Mm, what time is it?" He asked, reaching his arms above his head.

Dave glanced at the clock on the computer after placing it in his lap. "Only nine. You wanna watch something else?" He asked, looking back up at Karkat.

The boy shrugged, nodding at the computer. "What else do you have?" He took the laptop from Dave's hand after he held it out, and started scrolling through the movies featured on Netflix. After a minute, he perked up.

"Oh! Yes, here, we're watching this." He selected the movie and sat back down, placing the computer in front of them again.

"Wait, what did you pick?" Dave asked, tapping the mouse pad to see the movie details on the screen. "Oh my god, what? Really?"

"Dave, Mean Girls is a classic. You can't go wrong with it," Karkat said, responding to Dave's crooked eyebrow above his glasses lens. "You got your movie, I get mine."

Dave sighed after a second, hanging his head. "Okay, fine, but if anyone asks, I only watched it ironically."

"What, you haven't seen it before?" Karkat asked, tilting his head.

"Nope. Not once. Not even, again, ironically."

Karkat gaped at Dave, staring at him. "Okay, but, how? I've seen it like six times and I haven't even lived in a house for years."

Dave shrugged. "I dunno man. So I'm not really sure what I'm in for here."

Karkat smiled and situated himself back on the bed, focusing on the screen. "Well, then pay attention. Like I said, it's great."

Dave's legs kicked up behind him and he held his chin in his hands as he watched the movie start up and let out a deep breath. "I'm taking your word for it, little man."

This movie went worse than the last, with Karkat quoting every few lines and Dave being flicked after calling Karkat a nerd every time. Dave purposefully asked obvious questions, and Karkat would grumble before giving an all-out answer.

Although, Dave wasn't sure if it was to be a nuisance or, a thought that flew by his mind, just to hear Karkat speak more. Something about his little rants and outbursts gave Dave a little twinge of something nice, and he couldn't help but watch and listen closely as Karkat went off explaining what he was passionate about.

__

Surprisingly enough, Karkat fell asleep first. After moving to a laying position, was struggling to keep his eyes open for the last half of the movie, and ended up with his head resting in his crossed arms out in front of him and in a deep sleep.

Dave didn't notice right away, but turned to look at him after asking another dumb question and turning when Karkat didn't answer right away. He poked at the sleeping boy's arm a few times, seeing if he was really out of it or not. After realizing he was, and not wanting to disturb his sleep, Dave quietly turned off the movie and shut the laptop. He placed it on the floor before pulling his jeans off and throwing them on top of it. He slipped off his shades and set them on the bedside table.

Karkat was laying backwards, with his feet on the pillows, and Dave had no intention of waking him up or moving him. Instead, he laid in the same position, his head on his crossed arms. He watched Karkat closely, studying his sleeping face. He watched his chest rise and fall, and the way his lips moved around slightly. He let out another sigh.

Yeah. Something about this kid.
