As I walked into the kitchen, I was greeted by the savory aroma of Marlene's cooking. She was busy stirring a pot of fragrant soup on the stove, and I could see chunks of tender meat and colorful vegetables simmering together in the broth. My stomach rumbled in anticipation as I watched her deftly chop up some fresh herbs and sprinkle them into the pot.
"Emily, you're back!" Marlene exclaimed, wiping her hands on her apron and turning to face me with a smile. "Come help me finish up this soup, it's almost ready." she exclaimed as she wiped her hands on her apron and gave me a tight hug.
I hugged her back, feeling the warmth of her embrace. "Yes, I'm back," I said with a smile.
Marlene took a step back and looked at me closely. "You look tired, dear. Did something happen?"
I hesitated for a moment before telling her about my argument with Ethan and how I had decided to end things between us.
"I can't believe that Ethan would do something like that," Aunt Marlene exclaimed as she stirred the pot of soup on the stove. "That was really stupid of him."
I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I know. I'm just glad I'm done with him."
Aunt Marlene turned to me, her eyes filled with concern. "Are you okay, Emily? That must have been really scary for you."
I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "I'm fine, Aunt Marlene. It was just a little unsettling, that's all."
I eagerly rolled up my sleeves and joined her at the counter, helping her chop up some crusty bread and grate some cheese to go with the soup. As we worked, Marlene asked me about Alpha, her eyes twinkling with curiosity."So, what's going on with you and Alpha?"
I blushed, feeling a smile spread across my face. "Things are going well, I guess. He's been really sweet to me."
Aunt Marlene raised an eyebrow. "Sweet, huh? What does that mean?"
I couldn't help but grin as I thought about my time with Alpha. "Yeah, we had a great time. He's really funny and sweet, and he showed me his cool house and taught me how to make the perfect fried eggs."
Aunt Marlene nodded thoughtfully. "He sounds like a good guy. I'm glad you found someone who treats you well."
I smiled, feeling grateful for my aunt's support. "Thanks, Aunt Marlene. I'm really happy with him."
We continued cooking and chatting, the fragrant aroma of the soup filling the air. Despite the chaos of the past few days, being back in the comfort of my aunt's kitchen and spending time with her made me feel at ease.
We worked in companionable silence for a few more minutes, the only sounds coming from the sizzling of the bread on the griddle and the bubbling of the soup on the stove. The warmth of the kitchen and the tantalizing smells of the food filled me with a sense of contentment and happiness.
As we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor, Marlene looked at me with a knowing glint in her eye. "You know, dear, I can tell that you and Alpha have something special. It's in the way you talk about him and the way you smile when you do. I think you two could be great together."
I blushed at her words, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. Could it really be true? Was there something more between Alpha and me?
As we finished our meal, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for me and Alpha. All I knew was that I was grateful for this moment of warmth and comfort, surrounded by the love of my aunt and the delicious food she had cooked for us.
As I made my way to the training field, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. It was a much-needed break from the chaos of my personal life. But as I opened my box to retrieve my dirty training clothes, I suddenly felt a sharp pain as someone grabbed my hair from behind. I let out a yelp of surprise and turned around to see a girl I didn't recognize.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I exclaimed, rubbing the back of my head. The girl just sneered at me, her eyes full of malice. "You think you're so special, coming in here like you own the place. Well, you don't. And if you know what's good for you, you'll stay out of my way."
I was taken aback by her hostility, but I stood my ground and refused to back down. "I have just as much right to be here as you do," I said firmly. "And if you have a problem with that, we can settle it in the ring."
The girl just laughed, a bitter, cruel sound. "You do not deserve it," she said, before shoving me aside. I was left standing there, feeling a mixture of anger and confusion. Who was this girl, and why was she so hostile towards me? I couldn't help but wonder what I had gotten myself into, but at the same time, I knew that I couldn't back down now.
"Hey, stop, what do you want?" I asked her as she was about to leave.
The girl just glared at me, her eyes filled with anger. "You heard me. Stay away from my boyfriend, Alpha. He's mine," she spat out, her tone dripping with venom.
