We were hydras
Bitter hydras
We would cut each other
down
But we always came back
UpWe were legumes
Peanuts in a shell
We were wrapped in our own little
WorldWe were liars
Bitter little liars
Regardless of what you
Said
I always knew the
TruthWe were torch bearers
(And often just the torch)
Lighting fires in the
Night
Putting them out in the
DayWe were warriors
Viciously attacking with words
And with swords
With shields and
With silenceThen
We
Became
I
AndWe were friends
We were.
