Bucky Barnes - Moving Forward (Final)

There was a knock on the door to your shared bedroom with Bucky. He placed his duffle bag behind the door as he slowly opened it. Steve was standing there.

"Hey Buck, I just wanted to make sure you were ok?"

Bucky didn't want to answer. How could he? You were missing and he knew exactly who took you, but Steve was being too stubborn and protective to listen. Without warning, an image flashed in Bucky's head. Loki and Clint were ready to leave.

"I'm just tired, Steve." As Bucky went to shut the door, Steve stuck his hand out to stop it.

"Bucky please, I know how hard this is. If we can just talk and figure out a plan..."

Steve stopped talking as he saw the duffle bag out of the corner of his eye. Realizing that Steve saw it, Bucky sighed.

"Fuck it," Bucky said as he grabbed the bag and made his way down the stairs.

"Bucky! Stop!" Steve exclaimed as he followed Bucky out the front door. Natasha and Tony followed closely behind. Steve reached out for Bucky's arm. "Bucky! I understand you're upset but going after her isn't safe."

Bucky pulled his arm away from Steve. "She's my fucking wife Steve, of course I'm going to go after her!" he yelled.

At this point, Clint and Loki made their way from behind the trees.

"Your wife?" Steve asked quietly.

"You got married?" exclaimed Tony.

"Oh shit," whispered Clint as he made his way over.

"When?" whispered Steve.

Bucky's heart broke when he heard the sadness in Steve's voice. "It'll be a year on new year's eve," Bucky said quietly.

Steve furrowed his brows, "Why didn't you tell us? Why would you do that without us?"

Bucky rubbed the back of his neck, "It just sort of happened. We didn't want to wait or want some big extravagant affair. You know Tony wouldn't have let us do anything small." Tony shrugged and nodded in agreement. "We went to the local courthouse. Clint and Laura were our witnesses and we went to the local diner with the kids afterwards."

"Sounds perfect," replied Steve.

"It was. This past year, you've just been so busy with training the new team and have been out of the country so much. We were planning on surprising everyone when you all came for Christmas. And, to give you this," Bucky reached into his duffle bag and pulled out a box.

Steve took the box and opened it, tears forming in his eyes. "Are you serious?" he asked Bucky.

Bucky smirked and nodded his head, "Yeah, very serious."

Steve sniffed and quickly wiped the tears from his eyes, clearing his throat. "Ok, so if Hydra doesn't have her, then who does?"

Clint started filling them in as they made their way to the Quinjet. Natasha grabbed the box from Steve so she could see what Bucky gave him. Tony looked over her shoulder and smiled.
