"Would you sit still?" Natasha chastised you as she put the final touches on your hair.

"I'm sorry," you replied, "I'm just nervous."

"What do you have to be nervous for? It's just Bucky," Wanda replied from inside your closet. She was digging through your shoes, trying to find the perfect pair to go with your sundress.

You sighed, "It's just been so long since I've been on an actual date."

Natasha sat on the vanity in front of you, applying a little bit of makeup. "Don't think of it as a date. You and Bucky have been friends for a long time. Just see it as an opportunity to get out of the compound and enjoy yourself. There is no pressure for this to become something serious."

You took a deep breath, "You're right. Just two friends hanging out."

"Here!" Wanda exclaimed as she brought over a pair of strappy sandals. "These will go perfect with your dress and easy to walk in at the pier."

Once you got your sandals on, you stood in front of the full-length mirror in your room. Natasha and Wanda stood behind you, smiling.

"You look gorgeous," Wanda said with a smile.

You took another deep breath, "Well, here goes nothing."

You walked to the common room to find Bucky standing by the elevator. As he heard your voices, he turned around, his eyes growing wide.

"Wow doll, you look amazing!"

You blushed, "Is this ok?" you asked as you smoothed out your dress.

He smiled, "Perfect."

As you grabbed your jacket, you heard something fall and break behind you. You and Bucky turned around to find a shocked and angry Sam. His chest rose and fell rapidly with anger as he clenched his jaw. Bucky quickly took your hand and led you to the elevator, leaving before Sam could say or do anything to ruin your night.

As the elevator made its way down to the parking garage, you leaned your head back against the wall, letting out a shuttered breath.

"Hey," Bucky said gently, grabbing your hand. "You ok?"

You looked at him with a small smile, "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry, I don't know why I let him get to me."

Bucky gave you a sympathetic look, "It's because you love him (Y/N)."

You scoffed, "I don't love him, Bucky. I hate him. He's the one who slept with someone else."

Bucky led you off the elevator and towards his motorcycle. "This ok?" he asked.

You gave him a big smile, "Oh hell yeah."

He laughed as he gave you a helmet. Climbing on behind him, you held on tight as he sped out of the garage. Unbeknownst to either of you of Sam watching you from the window.

"I don't think the shooting game was fair," you said with a laugh.

"What?" Bucky exclaimed as he took a bite of his burger. "I won that fair and square."

"Says the former Winter Soldier," you said with a sly smile.

Bucky chuckled, "Eh, you got me there."

You both were sitting on a bench. The noise of the carnival behind you as you watched the waves lap up on the shore. You took a deep breath. For once, you felt free. Being in the compound and only going out for missions had started to take its toll on you. As grateful as you were for your new family, you secretly missed your old life. You missed your Aunt May.
