Upon entering the flat, Scarlet was internally grateful that she had stuck by her goal of doing a bit of tidying and cleaning each evening to make sure the small space didn't get messy.
It was a reasonable sided flat for just her with an open plan bathroom/kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a toilet and a bathroom. It was smaller than she was used to when she was living in her 4 bed detached house with her ex, Luke, but she figured there was no point having rooms that would never be used.
She couldn't help but feel self conscious as she poured 2 glasses of wine in the kitchen, noticing Erling's eyes glancing around the space as he sat on her blush pink sofa. It was nothing compared to his home.
Scarlet placed the glasses on the table before taking a seat next to Erling. He picked up his glass and took a big gulp of the liquid before placing the half empty glass back down onto the table.
"Steady on, I don't want Pep on my case because you're turning up to training with a hangover." Scarlet laughed nervously. She was serious though, she was yet to meet Pep and she certainly did not want her first conversation with him to involve discussion about her spending time drinking with one of the players. That wouldn't be very professional.
"Relax, we have tomorrow off so I can drink as much as I like." Erling smirked.
"Alright for some." Scarlet said.
The two of them went on to talk about the game and ended up laughing about how excitable Jack was.
"He's got way too much energy for me sometimes." Scarlet said. "Although I totally see why him and Sasha get on, they must balance each other out."
Erling's ears pricked up at the mention of Sasha, his mind going back to Jack's foursome comment earlier which he quickly shook off.
"Jack is definitely a character. His heart is always in the right place though. And Sasha is lovely, it was nice to see you getting on with her."
Scarlet smiled. "She is lush. She's actually invited me for a spa evening with her on Wednesday."
Erling gulped. Spa evening? Scarlet in a bikini? He had to be there. He made a mental note to text Jack as soon as he got home.
"How are you finding things now you are more settled in?"
"I'm really glad I made the move. I'm even warming to the random strangers saying hello to me on the bus." Scarlet laughed.
"We really need to get you driving."
"Well if you ever decide you want to get rid of one of your cars just hit me up and I'm sure I can write it off for you."
Erling sniggered. "I've been told I'm a good teacher. I'm sure I could teach you." He spoke with an ounce of cockiness to his voice.
"What if I told you I'm a bad student?" Scarlet responded.
"Not for me." Erling spoke. "I'm sure I could successfully teach you a thing or two."
Scarlet wasn't sure if the comment was supposed to be suggestive, but she could feel her cheeks burning up ever so slightly at his words.
"Maybe if you play your cards right I might let you."
As the pair's conversation had gone on, Erling had gradually moved closer and closer to Scarlet and was now inches away from her face.
There was a silence in their conversation and Erling looked down at her lips and then back to her eyes, wetting his bottom lip with his tongue.
He really wanted to kiss her, but he wanted to wait for her to make the first move this time.
