Elizabeth's pov:
It is Tuesday morning. For 3 weeks now I have been teaching everyone under 18. I don't have any help really other than the teenagers helping with the young ones. There are 4 kids and 3 teenagers. Almost all of them are on different levels in school other than John and Tony. It makes it easier on me that they are. I work with all of my students one on one at some point in the day. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I have the kids first until after lunch. After lunch I have the teenagers. On Tuesday and Thursday I have the teenagers first and then the kids. I give all of my students hw other than Nick.
I walk into class to see my teenager group sitting there waiting for me. I say as always I will spend the first hour working with Tonya since she is the youngest. I hand the other two work to do quietly. I grab math to work on with Tonya since that is her hardest topic. I walk over to her. I say, "Is there any work that I gave you to do independently yesterday that you need help with?"
"No mom everything was ok."
"Ok well let's get started on math." We get started and we work for an hour. I then move on to Mike. I say, "Do you need me help with what I gave you to work on last hour or yesterday?"
"No ma'am everything came easily to me."
"Excellent then we will get started on history."
"Ok." I sit down with him and start talking about a war that happened in Egypt in the BCs. If he has any questions I stop and answer them. He does pretty good this hour. I hand him and Tonya something to work on this hour. I go to Ray next. She is an excellent student who doesn't need to work on anything other then English. I still give her other work though because I want her to stay as good as she is right now. I have her write out a paragraph. After she does that I make marks on her paper so that she can see what she needs to work on. I have her read to me from Romo and Juliet. She does an awesome job with that and I smile to let her know that she did a good job. She only made two mistakes where she normally makes five. Anytime she makes a mistake I stop her and let her try the sentence again. If she doesn't get in on the third try then I will tell her what the word is. After our hour is up I tell them it's lunch time. We go and eat with everyone on the island. During that hour they are aloud to do what ever they want to. I go eat with my husband. After the hour I give him a kiss and walk with all of my students back to the hut that is our classroom. I say, "Ok Tonya work with E, Mike work with Tony, and Ray work with John. I walk up to Nick. I sit on the floor with him. I have him count out blocks made from wood for that hour. He does really good. I say, "Ok Ray work with Nick." She walks over and sits down with him working on spelling his first and last name. I walk up to John. I say, "Hey buddy. We are going to work on spelling." We don't have any paper so I have him spell the words out loud. After that hour I let him know that we just did a test and that he did a good job. I don't like telling any of my young students that they are about to have a test because that makes them nervous. They normally do better when I don't tell them. I say, "Ok Mike go work with John and Tonya go work with Ray helping Nick. All of my teenagers know what the students should be doing that hour. I walk up to Tony and E. I say, "Ok we will be working on history." I tell them a story about Martin Luther king Jr. After I finish the story they have to answer questions about him. They take turns but if one doesn't know the answer then they can say pass. If neither of them know the answers then I help them out. After the hour is up they all leave. I sit down and grade paper's from yesterday and hw. I record their grades in my phone. My phone doesn't work here but I can still do simple things like record grades and write lesson plans. My teenagers know how to read lesson plans so that they can help out the little ones. I can charge my phone now since before Amy died she wrote down how to make solorpanels. I get down grading and then go home. I take a nap.
