Revelation

Chris POV

After the church, we headed over to the Bennet house where the wake would be held. My Ma had sorted everything out for them and we helped anyway we could. Kia had walked away when entering the house, I was hoping to get some food into her because she hadn't eaten in so long. But I knew Kia and she was going to probably get drunk, she did when she left the hospital after her accident. It's her way of coping I guess.

"Ma have you seen Kia?"
"I haven't sweetie"
I nod and walk through the sea of people, Mrs B was loved by so many so it came as no shock to me that so many showed up today. I find Kia sitting on the back deck. She has a glass of scotch.
"Hey"
She looks up and tries to offer me a smile but I know Kia's smile and that's not it.
"Hi"
"Stupid question but how are you holding up?"
"I'm not" she sighs "I'm not holding up Chris, I feel hollow right now. I don't really know what to do"

"Seems cliche but it will get better"
"I don't see how Chris"
I nod, she is right. At this moment in time things are too raw and she doesn't need me to tell her that things will get better.
"What the fuck!!"
"What?"
I look up and I see Katie standing talking with Kias brother. Next thing I know Kia is storming over to her so I quickly follow.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I'm here to support Chris"
Kia looks at me and I shake my head "I didn't invite her here I promise you"
"No he didn't but I figured I should be here for him, I mean that's what girlfriends do"

She looks so smug when that word falls out of her mouth. I can't help but get angry "you are not my girlfriend Katie"
I hear Kia let out a chuckle, a sad, upsetting chuckle.
"You know what Katie, I can't keep doing this. Ever since we were little everything has been a competition. You have always wanted what was mine. So please take him, have him. You took my dream away so why not take the only man I've ever loved too. I'm done"
Kia walks away and I'm more confused then ever "what did she mean you took her dream away?"
"Oh nothing. She's just drunk baby"
"Don't call me baby. Just leave Katie"

I walk away and try to find Kia, as I get inside the house I see Scott at the front door.
"Scott seen Kia?"
"She just drove off Chris"
"What? She's been drinking"
"I know I tried to stop her but she told me fuck off"
"Fuck!! Katie is here"
"Great! What the fuck does she want?"
"Ok. What is going on?"
"What do you mean?"
"Scott don't acted dumb. I know Katie isn't everyone's favourite but Kia said Katie took her dream away. What does she mean?"
"I.....it's not...."
"Scott spill now!"

"Kia is going to kill me.......Katie sabotaged her skates Chris. Her "accident" wasn't an accident"
"What? How does she know that?"
"Ryan at the rink he sent her a video proving it. And she had her skates tested and they confirmed they had been tampered with"
"Fuck! Why didnt she tell me?"
"I don't know. She said she was back for her mum not to start all this drama. Chris she has had this proof for 5 years and not done anything with it. Katie just carried on and took her dream from her"
"I have to find her before she gets herself hurt, she shouldn't be driving right now. Where would she go Scott?"
"You know her the best Chris"
That was true, I knew her better then anyone, now I just had to think where would she be going.
