"Riles.." Maya called.
"Peaches?" I responded.
"We're having prom soon."
"Yup. Are you taking Uncle Josh?"
"Yes," she grinned. "When is Huckleberry asking you?"
"What makes you think he'll ask me?"
"Who else will he ask?"
"I don't know, Maya. I'm not expecting him to ask me."
"Well, I am."
"Riles, Other One." Lucas says to me and nods at Maya.
"I still don't like you." Maya says.
"I still don't care." Lucas jokes.
"Anyway, Ranger Rick, prom's coming up..."
"Maya.." I warned.
"Riles, the guy needs to get a clue."
"I'm right here." Lucas says.
"Lucas, when are you gonna ask Riley to prom?"
"Maya!" I yelled and pulled her away.

"Where's Maya and Riley?" Farkle comes up to me with Zay.
"Talking about prom." I laughed.
"So when are you asking Riley?" Farkle asked.
"I have my plans."
"Lucas, shed some light on us." Zay orders.
"Nah, I'll pass. It'll be a surprise."
"What about you, Farkle? Who are you asking?" Zay asks him.
"Isadora Smackle."
"Who?" Zay asks.
"She goes to another school." I answer. "How is she, by the way?" I ask Farkle.
"She's good." Farkle grinned.
"Still a genius?" I ask.
"Still smarter than me." He answers.
"What about you, Zay? Who are you taking to prom?" I ask.
"I don't know yet."
"Better decide soon, you're gonna run out of choices." Farkle says.
"I have my own plans." Zay says.

"Do you want me to beat him up so he'll ask you?" Uncle Josh asks.
"Yes!"
"No!" Maya and I answered at the same time.
"Niece, I won't let you go to prom dateless."
"I won't go to prom dateless!"
"Well, when will he ask you? I can't wait this long." Maya whines.
"He'll ask when he's ready.. or not at all. I don't know."
My phone vibrated and I checked it.
Lucas: "hey city girl!"
"Is that Lucas? Let me talk to him." Uncle Josh stole my phone and him and Maya sat beside each other at my bay window texting him and I just sat, defeated, on my bed.
