2:37 am and her dad wasn't home wait. She knew what was about to happen. Noa looked at her little brother who fell asleep on her lap earlier. She grabbed him and made her way to his room. Once there she put him under his bed covers and left a kiss on his forehead then she went back to the living room.

Her mom was there. In her sit, watching the tv with lost eyes. The phone then rang. Noa sighed and replied.

"Hello Smiths house"

"Noa? It's Greg", Greg said. Greg was the local bars owner. He was a good guy. Noa respected him a lot, it doesn't matter how many times Noa's dad caused trouble Greg was always kind to the girl.

"Let me guess, you need me to come pick up my dad?"

"Unfortunately yes"

"Okay I'll be there in a few minutes", Noa hang up the phone and put on her shoes and jacket.
"Mom?", she said kneeling beside her mom.

Nothing.

"Mom I need to go pick up dad, okay? Hayden is sleeping I'll be back in a few minutes", Noa kissed her mom's cheek and got out.

Noa parked her car in front of the bar. "I'm sick of it", she muttered getting out of the car. She entered and directly spotted her dad at the bar.

She was about to go get him when she spotted Merle in the corner of her eye. He was alone at a table. She could stop by his side for five minutes, right?

"Hi Merle", she said sitting beside him.

"Oh look who is there. Daddy needs a babysitter again?", he asked joking then kissed her cheek.

"Ahah very funny it's not like a have a choice"

"I know sorry", he smiled sadly at her. "You got any plans after getting you dad home?"

Noa shacked her head as a no. "Why?"

"Let's go to my place. You need time away from home I can see it", Merle wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "I'll even let you put on shitty romance movies if you want"

"Then how could I declined that", Noa smiled a bit. "Let's meet up at my home and then we take your car?"

"Let's do that"

The both of them got up, Merle went out and Noa went to her dad. "Hey Greg, sorry about him. How much?"

"Noa just take him home okay? You don't have to pay for it"

Noa sent him a thankful smile and wrapped her dad's arm around her shoulders.

Noa thrown her dad on the couch.  She started walking away when he talked. "I saw you with that man again" She turned around. "There'll be consequences, you know it, right?" And he fell asleep.

Noa didn't waste any time and got out of the house. Merle was there, waiting in his car. "Let's go", she said closing the door.

The ride was full of laugh. Noa liked that about Merle. He wouldn't asked about her dad. He would just make her laugh and forget about everything at home.

Merle's trailer was small but cozy. The both of them were used to spend their nights there. It was their home.

Merle got out a beer and a soda from the fridge and sat around the table with Noa. "Something has change here", she said thoughtful.

"Well nothing has changed tho", Merle replied, drinking his beer.

Noa went over it and the both got on the couch to watch a movie. After a few minutes Noa could feel herself falling asleep. She looked up at Merle and saw that the man was in the same state.

"Let's go to bed i'm tired", she told him.

Merle nodded and got up. "Goodnight sweet cheeks", he said hugging her.

"Good night old man"

They both hopped to bed and fell asleep quickly.

Noa woke up in the middle of the night. She heard something in the living room. She shacked Merle a bit but he wouldn't wake up. She got on her feet and went out of the bedroom.

The living room's light was on and someone was there. The man turned around and froze. "Hmm I didn't know Merle got a girl in sorry"

"What? Wait", Noa looked at one of the picture on the fridge. "You're Merle's brother?"

"That's me yeah, Daryl, and you are?"

"Noa, Noa Smith. Merle's friend", she shacked his hand.
