24. Soon everything will be same as in ancient times

When she went back, she saw them already ready with the things and smiled. "Here are some basic vegetables like onions, garlic and carrots. Look in neighborhood if anyone wants to have some. I will go to the other side to cook."
The two quickly took three bags full of vegetables and rushed out.
They left and she just laid down on one blanket and closed her eyes.
On other side she opened eyes and luckily light was still falling trough the window and fire was on.
This world was colder as the other as there was no industrialization and no greenhouse effect.
She saw the two boys sitting again next to open window and looking at people trough the gaps in window paper.
Well, they were bored.
"I will cook something quickly. If you are bored, go outside and play with your friends. I'll call you when food is done." She saw that they looked at her face and smiled. "I feel much better after eating and after sleeping well. Tonight I will sleep enough so we have enough strenght to leave. I think we better leave day before as that family can't wait to come. But I will wash whole house as I really can't let them waggle their mouth out me."
The boys nodded and went out reluctantly. " Mom, what if Marco stay here and help you?"
Marco? At least one name was there.
"You two boys. Who needs your help? Go out and say goodbye to your friends." She pushed them out and rushed towards huge cauldron.
She could smell meat spreading around so her coking won't be se obvious. She quickly placed oil and meat and started frying it with the seasonings. After it was fried she took it into one bowl and added cut onion and carrots. To that she added two handfuls of frozen vegetables for french salad and added cut pieces of turnip. After adding seasonings and salt she let it simmer a bit and placed meat to infuse the taste into the stew. She added one tiny bag of sugar as well as it will give nice sub taste and kept pepper on side as she planned selling it.
If she finds pepper corns she will try to plant it. Maybe she can get it in virtual space?
"Is there seedling of pepper?" She asked casually.
Screen opened up and answer was seen.

Her lips twitched.
No wonder it was so expensive in ancient times. The traveling time, costs and time to grow.
Everything together gave the price that was expensive as heck.
Maybe she should send the two men again to the airport to gather all seasonings they could find on planes?
And buy as many seasonings they could find?
Soon they will have same problem but no one saw it yet.
Gina still chose to put one pinch of pepper into the stew to add to taste and waited until it was done.
