Chapter 11 - Holy Shit
"Would you like to be my date for the Founders' Ball?"
My breathing hitched. Did I just say that? Did I just ask Cloud to be my date? Holy Guacamole! I am so screwed. How would I recover from this if he says no?
Reader: Please, Skittles. We both know that there's no if. He'll say no to you.
I ignored the bitch before looking up at Cloud. He was staring at me with a blank face giving me no clue of what he's thinking about. And then he's arm dropped from my shoulder. Oh shit! That is not a good sign. "Skittles I -" don't think I should go to the ball with you. My image would be ruined and - "Hey Skit!" I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Seb calling out my name. I turned to him. "Seb..." I trailed off, my voice had an obvious tone of disbelief.
"Yeah, um... about last Friday, I'm sorry for bailing out on you." He said making me smile. "Nah, it's okay. It's no big deal." I replied.
Reader: No big deal, my ass.
That's exactly what Cloud muttered making me elbow him on his stomach and him to curse. "Fuck." He hissed. I knew I got him good. "Oh, thanks." Seb apparently didn't notice the small incident that occurred making me smile grew wider. "Okay." I said. I was about to return my gaze back to Cloud when Seb asked something that got my attention. "Hey, um, Skittles, I was wondering if maybe I could be your date for the Founders' Ball?" I froze.
Holy Shit.
I turned to look at Cloud, trying to decipher what he's thinking about. "You could go with him, Skit. It's okay." He whispered after leaning into my left ear. I stared at him wide eyed. "But I asked you to be my date." I muttered "It's obvious that you want to go with him. It's okay." He said before smiling softly. "I'll see you at lunch, Mon Amour." He added before leaving a chaste kiss on my forehead.
"Skit?" I turned around and smiled at Seb. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I'll go with you." His frown turned into a triumphant smile before hugging me. "Thank you." He whispered as he pulled away. "Can I walk you to class?" He playfully asked making me grin. "We have the same class." I stated after giggling. "I know, darling." He said with a smile before taking my hand and leading the way to our class.
Cloud Montero.
"Why'd you do that?" Val hissed with a what-the-fuck look. He's pissed at me for letting the jock fucker be Skit's date for the Founders' Ball when she originally asked me. I shrugged. "I don't know." I replied. "Fuck you. Of course you know why. You just don't want to tell me." He pointed out.
It was because of the way she called him, with disbelief but you can still hear the admiration, care, and love in her voice. It was because of the way she looked at him, her aqua blue eyes shining brightly with a mixture of shock and excitement when he asked her. And it was because of the way she looked at me, asking for permission to say yes.
"She wanted to say yes to him." I whispered. "And how the fuck did you know that?" He harshly said. I honestly don't know why I'm letting him have this kind of attitude towards me. "Eyes, Valentino." I said "And don't talk to me like that." I growled out. Seems to be a bit of overreaction but Val knows I don't like to be talked to that way. "Skit asked you, Cloud. It means she wants you to be her date." He said "Because she didn't know that Seb would ask her." I retorted "You will always think the worst." He fired back "You know why, Val." I whispered.
-
"Shit, bro! You're entering the second most awesome phase of your life, high school. Trust me when I say girls will be all over you." My brother, Michael said as he ruffled my hair. "Just because you had girls at your beck and call, doesn't mean that I'll also have those." I retorted making him snort. "Oh please, Cloud. Stop being such a humble bastard." He said after rolling his eyes.
"It wouldn't be the same without you." Michael stopped walking and gave me a serious look. "I'm not gonna forget about you. I'm just going to college." He replied "You'll be busy with college work, girls, and maybe with a job." It was the truth even though my brother won't admit it to himself, we would somehow lose touch. "Fine, I admit. We're going to lose touch, eventually because first years always have it hard." He then smiled "That's why we're having a freaking day to ourselves to go to the beach, nearby. I'll teach you all the tricks." I laughed at that. "You should just admit that you're scared because you'll have no one to back you up when Dad starts flipping shit." He playfully said as we continued to walk.
-
"It's not your fault that Michael got into an accident." Val whispered. "But Dad was so sure of it. He loathed me for Mike's accident." I said through gritted teeth. "He said it was my fault." My voice then turned soft and my lips formed into a smile. "Maybe it was." I added. I knew it was. "Your Mom doesn't believe that." I raised my left eyebrow at him. "Mom? Mom doesn't talk to me, she can't even look me in the eye." I said to him. "I live in that house, all alone. Hell, I'm closer to you than Mom and Dad." I added.
I don't even think that they're my parents, anymore.

Cloud, don't fret, everything will be fine. They will, trust me. And do you wanna know why? Because the author loves you very much.
But she also likes to see her characters suffering.
Haha! Anyways, to summarize Cloud's attitude: He's a smart egotistical jerk and a pessimistic bastard.
Dearest Cloud,
Don't think the worst. It wasn't your fault... I guess? No. Your Dad's an A-grade douchebag. It's not your fault.Important news!
