A week had passed since the train raid and Ayatney couldn't help but feel miserable. She had been pulled out of any other missions till she was properly healed, by Jake's orders.Apparently she was suffering from a thing called a concussion, which was a mild blow to the head. The avatar driver, Norm, had explained that it could've been way worse if she hadn't woken up the next day. As long as it didn't seem life threatening, which it could've been, Ayatney didn't seem to care.
But of course, Jake did. That's why she currently sat doing nothing. He had told her that she needed to recover first, concussions weren't something you were allowed to play around with, him having to suffer them many times before during his time in the military and war. Jake knew from experience.
But that didn't mean she had to listen.
Which led her to now, Ayatney was currently chasing after a hyper Tuk as they ran across a passing connecting the floating islands. Apparently Lo'ak, Kiri, and Spider had planned to go off into the forest before getting caught by Tuk and then by Ayatney who had over heard the seven year old threatening to tell their mother if she wasn't able to tag along.
Traveling down this path has been very familiar, muscle memory carrying her down closer and closer to the woodland below. Ayatney had only considered going to get some fresh air and to get out of the cave but then realized that Lo'ak was going to be leading the group. So now she followed behind with a purpose to keep watch and to enjoy the trees around her.
Tuk came to a stop, crouching over some sort of plant to play with it. The tentacle like creature wrapping it self around her fingers. Ayatney stopped to watch as the young na'vi giggled, too engrossed with the plant to notice that the trio had stopped further up.
"C'mon Tuk— Keep up!" Lo'ak called impatiently, upset for having to bring his little sister along. The little girl groaned, untangling her hand as she stood up. "Coming!"
As her and Ayatney were making their way to catch up with the group, Spider had let out a small chuckle, clearly amused by his friends agitated face.
"Dude, why did you bring her anyway?"
Lo'ak took a few steps, setting his feet firmly on a branch higher than the one the rest of them stood on before turning to face them.
"Well cause she's all— You're not supposed to go to the battle field. I'll tell mom if you don't let me come." He mocked, pitching his voice higher to match Tuk's.
"Hey, don't pick on her." Kiri was quick to come to her younger sisters defense. Clearly unhappy that the two were ganging up on the youngest.
Ayatney rolled her eyes, shaking her head she sighed. "We aren't supposed to be here anyways," she looked around, whistling when she saw the aircraft that was wrapped in hanging vines. "We are going to die when he finds out."
No one else seemed to hear her as they went on about. Lo'ak and Spider climbing to see the inside of the human made machine with Tuk following along and Kiri going off on her own. Which left the girl all alone, not that she minded.
Ayatney walked further into the forest, ears twitching at every sound it offered. Though she practically lived in the trees all her life, Ayatney would always be amazed by its simplistic beauty. Anything and everything always gave her a sense of tranquility. It always seemed at peace.
Before she had knew it, the time had passed and it was time to head back. Always given the warning that if they leave the cave, they must always return before eclipse. She had rounded the three up, scanning over Lo'ak and Tuk for any minor injuries. Just for precaution.
