Starflight looked at Queen Scarlet. She was, well, scarlet,  with jewels embedded on her forehead. The Skywings seized the dragonets and poked and prodded them with spears until the little dragonets followed the glimmering dragon.

They flew alongside the Claws of the Clouds mountains, with their jagged, snow-topped peaks and trees, with a ring of Skywings surrounding them as a guard. Starflight saw all of Pyrrhia through a map, astonished at how huge the world seemed.

Starflight knew all of Pyrrhia and the seven tribes; the Mudwings, which lived in the center of Pyrrhia, The Icewings, which lived on a frozen northern peninsula, the Rainwings, which lived deep in the rainforest, the Seawings, which lived in the Bay of A Thousand Scales, the Sandwings, which lived to the southwest, the Skywings, which lived to the north, where Starflight assumed they were taking the dragonets, and the Nightwings. Starflight's tribe.

The Nightwings were a mysterious bunch who kept to themselves, who could read minds and conjure prophecies and see the future. Nobody knew where they lived, what they did, or how many of them were there. Starflight liked them because they were vague, cryptic, and cool. Starflight remembered having an argument with Tsunami about it. "They're not cool, they're creepy! They're like a cult. Foreseeing the future, reading minds, keeping to themselves? It's a bit shady if you ask me."

But Starflight disagreed. The Nightwings had powers, that's all. So what if they keep to themselves? They just want some privacy. Starflight lost his train of thought when the Skywings suddenly halted.

"Ah, the grand arena," Queen Scarlet said. "Nothing like a fresh bloodbath to keep the spirits high!" The arena, Starflight realized with a jolt. This is what I saw in my vision! "Guards," Queen Scarlet barked. "Put them into the cells up above. I want a special fight today!" The guards poked the dragonets through into the arena and clamped them to little perches overlooking the sand-covered circle.

Just then, Starflight saw a red Skywing go up to Clay and start talking to him. Clay said something back, and it continued for a bit. Then, to his horror, the Skywing began to fly toward him!  Starflight tried to reach into the Skywing's mind to see what Clay had said, but the mind was just a blazing fire, surrounding it. He pulled out just as the red dragon got to him.

"Hi! Uh, I'm Peril. Clay told me to ask you about The Scorching." Starflight just stood there, paralyzed. "Uh, I'm just going to go now," Peril said awkwardly, then winged away towards Clay. Starflight couldn't understand. How was Peril blocking his mindreading? He thought up a few ideas, such as Peril being an animus, or having an animus object that blocks thoughts.

A/N: Time-skipped over the whole Tsunami and Starflight fight with the scavengers over to the battle with Peril and Clay.

Starflight fretted and could think up a million ways Peril could kill Clay. Suddenly, Glory, on a tree standing next to the queen, snapped her chain like paper, opened her mouth to an unimaginable extent, and sprayed black goo all over Queen Scarlet's face.

The arena was in a panic. All of the fans swarmed towards the exits, trampling dragons undertalon to get out of the arena. Peril flew to Tsunami and cut off her cords, then did the same for Starflight. Starflight wasn't sure how she did it, since Starflight had tried to cut them off himself. Suddenly, he realized that Peril was radiating heat. Starflight was sure Skywings didn't do that, and that even a Sandwing like Sunny couldn't produce that amount. Maybe it was connected to Peril's mind and the firewall. He decided to let that thought go, as it was a mass panic with dragons flying everywhere. Starflight lifted into the air and followed Peril. He would figure out Peril's mysteries later.

The dragonets flew to a cave a few miles away from the Skywing arena. Glory whirled around, which was hard to do in the cave, and pointed a claw at Peril. "When I was close to you, I noticed a sort of heat radiating from you, much more than any Sandwing. How are you doing that?"

Peril sighed. "Look guys, I knew I would have to tell you this eventually. I have firescales."
